Stillen is a good choice for the Sedan...you could just do the coupe midpipe if you want to save some $$. (of course an aftermarket will also have the rear muffler section for improved exhaust flow).

This is just me but in my opinion, I'd go with the HKS dual exhaust. It has a burnt tip-look that looks awesome and also the sound is pretty sweet too. I've actually seen and heard it on a coupe but I'm not too sure if it'll sound the same on the sedan. But I think it might because the HKS system is cat-back and isn't the difference between the coupe and sedan exhaust after the cats?

The HKS is a great system, but one of the most expensive out.

In the responses so far I've not seen anyone quote "increase in power" as a reason to choose one brand over another. In other words it seems hard to compare exhausts without HP gain figures. I see many exhausts advertised but few of them provid HP #s.

So my question is - which system provides the biggest bang for the buck?

It depends...if you go with a turbo, then you're going to want the widest you can get which is the APS. If you have a root's supercharger, ie Stillen blower, then you need some restriction to get max power. The vortech is in the middle.

But for a stock car, I would say that all cat-back systems will put down similar numbers, which is probably 5-8 HP. The G35 has a decent OEM exhaust, but when you start modifying things such as the intake or FI, you need more flow...which will yield more power from an exhaust system. Also, you'll gain more if you do a set of high-flow cats or test pipes. Each aftermarket exhaust has a different sound quality, so you'll want to take that into consideration. The HKS and Stillen sound fantastic. Others, such as the Nismo and Borla sound ok, but can be raspy.

To answer your question, the Stillen would give you the most bang-for-the-buck IMO. It uses a true-dual design to replace the stock mid-pipe and a higher-flowing muffler section. It's also lighter than OEM, which will make a difference in acceleration.

Well, with the sedan, your options aren't as wide open as they would be with the coupe--most of the exhaust systems for the G are designed for the coupe with dual tips. The only ones for the sedan that I know of are Stillen and Borla. The Stillen coupe version is good for 13-15 HP.
