Megan Racing is loud as hell. I used to hear 'em drive by all the time on testing runs...

I just purchased a Warpspeed Y-pipe & Hi-flow Cat and am waiting for the shipment to arrive. I am considering adding the Megan Cat-back exhaust system. However, I am not too sure what the best exhaust setup is for my car considering my needs.

If my car is automatic and I don't plan on racing it, is it even worth adding a cat-back to it? I know the Y-pipe is supposed to give you the best bang for its buck as far as HP gains, which is why I purchased it, but I'm only looking for an increase in HP for personal satisfaction while doing my daily driving.

Well if you don't mind loud, grab anything you want.

well the exhaust will give you a slight increase in hp, not much though im guessing around 5 to 10. so it won't really matter what exhaust you get that's my thinking. i just got the megan cause its deep and loud, too bad i gotta keep the silencer on most of the time though -_-. and i have an auto 95. =) personal satisfaction all the way here

I just had my Warpspeed Y-pipe and Magnaflow Performance Cat installed. I don't hear much of a difference outside the car, but inside I can hear and feel a little bit of the "bass" part of the sound. If the HP gain from these parts is about 5-10HP, how much of a gain would I get by adding a Megan Catback system?

Also, does anyone know how long the battery must remain disconnected in order for the ECU to be reset/reprogrammed? OR is there a faster way to accomplish this?

vbxmaxima.8m.com has the reset procedure, the FSM does... or you can just unplug the battery... i think it's 2 hours.

All the parts work as a system. You'll see 10-12whp and 10-12/wtq with a y-pipe alone, but adding a highflow cat and an exhaust probably won't do much more PEAK hp/tq... you might see 15-20whp and 15-20wtq total. However, the gain at each point on the RPM curve hopefully will be higher than with just the biggest power adder (the y-pipe) installed.

So if you've already got a y-pipe installed, the high-flow cat doesn't really add any power to an NA car, the catback is probably only a few whp/wtq more...

In that case, it's not worth adding a cat-back exhaust system. I guess the only reason I'd consider it would be for the sound my car would make with it. Although the Hi-flow cat doesn't do anything I decided to purchase it along with the Y-pipe because it was a good, packaged deal.

I've now read some posts about it needing an "adaptive learning" period of time. Therefore, does my ECU even need to be reset?

Thanks for all your insight!

I did. The best price I could get was thru Gary.

I have been working 75+ hours a week. I simply do not have time or energy for that.

A magnaflow muffler w/ custom catback is a whole lot cheaper than the SP2(at least from back in the day when I did the exhaust. I dont know how much it runs for now.I currently have a 5x8 oval body Magnaflow street series muffler (89.00 on ebay*new*), two resonators(35.00 ebay*new*) and 2.25 tubing straight to the test pipe (150.00).

I just mimicked the SP2's design, thats why I have two resonators, which are located on the straight tubing before it reaches the muffler.

Where do you guys get all of your Magnaflow Components?I am looking for a stainless steel muffler with dual tips and a 2.5" inlet, but I can't seem to find one anywhere. I also want an 18 or 24" resonator (2.5"), or possibly two shorter resonators. Any help with finding this stuff would be awesome.....

i think this muffler would look sweet on the AE. where are you located? if you have an advance auto parts near you just give them the partg number and tell them to order it for you. if not, you can paypal me, i can order through advance (cause i work there), and ship it to you once it comes to the store. as far as the resonator is concerned, run any glasspack in reverse from normal and there you are.

Hey thanks for the help bud.I actually ordered the parts to fabricate something almost exactly the same as that with a 2.5" inlet this week (Instead of the 2.25). Nobody in St. John's, Newfoundland was any real help while I was looking, so I ordered from an online source.1) I bought a universal Magnaflow dual tip muffler Part # 142182) A set of ebay tips to pretty it up a little3) A magnaflux resonator Part # 145014) A "High Flow Cat" Part # 91006 Because mine is extremely rusty-looking, and with the new stainless exhaust, it would be an eye-sore. Plus I didn't want to sand-blast a catylitic converter.

I'm going to go with a 2.5" custom Magnaflow job coming from a Warpspeed-Y. Has anyone tried to replace the front pre-cat coming from the front header on a cali-spec? Is there a problem with throuwing codes? It seems strange to spend the money on a Y-pipe, and still have to put up with the front pre-cat???

Also, does anyone see any major problems with this sounding like garbage before I get the work done? (Probably 2-3 weeks to get everything here....)

No answer? Oh well, I'm getting it tomorrow and having a friend install it. If there's any issues, I'll let everyone know in case they want to try this out as well.

Okay! Well, I ordered the Megan Racing NA type catback model# CBS-NM95.

It fit perfectly, except for the fact that the I30 was a bit longer... like 8". There was a gap between the back of the catalytic converter and the front of the exhaust system. I called them and pretty much told them I had a 96 maxima, so they are going to send me an extra attachement pipe (which they should have sent in the first place) for free. In the meantime, I had a custom pipe with flanges on each side to connect the system.

My I30 sounds great now!

I had a similar issue with the WarpSpeed B-pipe. The muffler shop had to add at least an 8" section for it to fit.

Injen CAI, Warpspeed SS y-pipe, hi-flow cat, custom dual exhaust with Medallion style mufflers...I think I'm taking those off though and going with a cleaner look. That's as far as my mods go with the exhaust anyway. The only stock part of my exhaust is the b-pipe with resonator, debating whether or not I wanna take that off. I posted these vids before, but I'll post them again to go along with the exhaust post!!!

I run Stillen headers with 1 highflow cat, resonator and flowmaster two chambered muffler. I ran two tips by wrapping the second one around underneath the spare tire. I came out pretty cool! Sounds a little aggresive... [IMG][/IMG]

HKS sport mufler, dual polished 3.5 tips, sounds really good when paired up with an Injen CAI. Resonates deep through 2k to 3k like a VQ should. higher then 3k and it sounds flat out mean.
