What ever happened to the Nissan Guy???

I was watching an old maxima commercial of the Bird's trying to spot a black maxima with the Top Gun theme music playin in the background. Well I noticed at the end the cool Nissan Guy and his dog were in it. What ever happened to them (well probably the guy). I thought he was cool.

Nah back in the early to mid 90s most of the nissan commercials had a guy and his dog at then end of the commercial smilin. He just disappeared. Dont know what ever happened to him.

he was in the Frontier commercials too, "Dogs like trucks" that guy was cool. remember the barbie commercial, ithink that was a nissan commercial, not sure though.

It was a 300zx. And yeah, the Top Gun bird commercial was shown during the Superbowl. I could never figure out who the actor in the commercials was, but the character is based on "Mr. K". He was a leading figure in Nissan Motors and the president for quite a while back in the 60's and 70's.

The Shift_ thing doesnt make sense to me. Too abstract artsy fartsy slow-to-sink-in. But sure beats that "Built for the human race" slogan.

did nissan ever have a theme song, like toyota's "I love what you do for me, toyota?"

it seems now companies have degressed into playing the same damn smash mouth song thas 5 years old on every commercial, then make sure that commercial comes on at least 20 times per hour.

the 300zx barbie commercial ROCKED! it still brings a tear to my eye. also the maxima/setting sun/ and the pigeon/top gun one were great. toyota commercials are absolutely annoying but every once and a while they'll have something decent, like their F1-related commercials they have all of a sudden. and the one with the Camry SLIDING thru an empty city just looks bad-*** and fun for some reason.

the Shift_ theme isn't bad. it's classy. and better than the toyota commercials. toyota can get away with being annoying, they sell so many damn cars.

and GM is the one that uses the smashmouth crap the most. SOMEONE GIVE ME A GUN!

i hate the dodge song thing "Hit it, ba da ba na ba da" and the Camry commercial does seem to be pretty cool, i have always wondered how they emptied the city for it. the ones i seem to hate are the gran prix commercials. the car isnt bad, i like them. but they had the thing sliding around on a dry lake like it was drifting and the newest one, "the grand prix GTP beat all these cars in the 0-60 times" well no sh*t, its blown. of course its goingto beat most of those cars off the line. ANNDDD!!! those damn Chrysler commercials with Celine Dion singing. oh and has anyone seen the Asimo Honda commercials? i can just imagine a nissan bot, with a big arse turbo for a heart, coming up behind the Honda one kicking its a$$./rant

I'm certain they used computer graphic imaging for the empty city. The Asimo is cool, but the thought of it getting its a55 kicked by a Nissan bot is hilarious.

I love Celine Dion in the Chrysler minivan ads. Its PERFECT! A nice white lady in a nice white van singing a nice song with a baby in the back seat... its a suburban wet dream. But I dont care for the use of her music in the Pacifica ads and such.

The Dodge ads are great. They show off a bunch of hot-looking cars with some aggressive music. And GM shows a bunch of cars flying around while old-school soul music plays in the background. (James Brown! Awesome choice!)

Quite frankly, the GM ads do more to ignite the soul and get me excited than "Shift_soul"

Dont tell me to shift! Just show me a good time in a 60 second spot!

I also love the Infiniti ads that show the Q45 going backwards in the parking garage, or the one showing off voice recognition when the guy stops the rain and controls the stoplights. Conveys a sense of power. Then at the end of the ad you can hear that VK45DE V8 at wide open throttle while the Q45 sprints down a highway... *drool*

No, I think the best nissan comercial was that one were they balanced everything and they made the tires role upwards with no computer enhancing. I saw it on here a while ago anyone remember the link.

That wheel balance commercial was a Honda Commercial. took them over 600 tries to get that whole comercial done.

Um....I'm almost positive that *WAS* Mr. K. No actor.

As far as what happened to him, he's still around. Just not as active as he used to be. He is also known as the grandfather of the Z, as it was *his* idea to export them to the U.S. to begin with. He also had a lot of influence on the design of the Z33.

Anyone seen (Oh God...) the Honda commercial where the parts of an Accord roll and stuff, like a huge simple machine? They tore apart like 2 cars to do that, kinda cool.

there were a couple of japanese skyline and 180sx videos around here a little while ago, the skyline one was absolutley great

the commercials i don't like are the ones for the sunfire or the cavalier, they try to make the car seem like its an f1 racing car, is anybody actually buying this?

Well, its all about image. Gives the cars barely slightly more appeal than just marketing them as rock-solid econoboxes, which they arent.
