what engines can i swap with a ka24de i have a 240sx se 16 valve dohc and i have to rebuild or get a new engine and i found a site that sells all nissan 240sx motor $995.00 not a bad price or so i think

i need a new engine i have a rod thats knocking any ways my mechanic says new engine rather than rebuilding to many things can go wrong yada yada yada so i was just looking for a cheap 1000 motor maybey i might spend more if there is an engine that puts out more stock hp

new engine isn't necessarily better than rebuilding it since you don't know the condtion of your "new engine". I just got done rebuilding a 180k mile ka engine and been abusing it like crazy. It still holds up well with no leaks. Engine is so quiet you can hear the injectors clicking.

i dont know how to rebuild it and my mechanic wont but he will put a new/used one in i wouyld rather rebuild but lack of knowledge is stopping me besides rebuild ing is cheaper than new used

Well ask him how much the total cost of labor is and what new parts it includes. If it costs more than a couple of grand, then go for the s13 sr20det engine. You can pick one up for around $2k if your lucky, plus another $1k or so for installation.

So your looking at around $3k for everything, plus a couple hundred for miscellaneous parts/labor.
