If your KA24E is in good shape then boost it. Just don't get an SR20.

my ka24e has 130,000 miles runs in good shape for a 19 year old car. idk if i should rebuild motor and turbo or put in a ka24de and turbo it. do you think there's a performance difference in a ka24e/ka24de

Not that big of a difference where it would be worth it to swap in a KA24DE. Lots of people boost their KA24E. Just do a compression test and see what the numbers are. If it turns out good, then boost it

clearly the de will yield more power per psi, that is largely due to the higher compression ratio. An e motor at the lower 8.6:1 and 9.1:1 compression is more"suited" for boost.

im all for boosting the ka bro, but just do it right and please keep in mind that most often the words "cheap" and "good performance" are mutually exclusive

Sohc would be sweet, and this way you don't have to buy a different motor which = money for turbo parts.

keep the sohc...if your looking for cheap, like you stated, I fear that you will stop at just the de swap, and at that point depending on the condition of that engine it could be possible to have gotten no gain what so ever. someone posted a link to a build, you should read it. if you ask me that dude spent to much money and i hear he is slapping a supercharger where the intake plenum used to be....ahh damn it, thats my build
