I just purchased my 240Z a couple of weeks ago. I am debating weather to swap out the L24 it has for a 28 and build that or should I buy a pre assembled 3.1 Stroker. I also have a 93 SE-R my sister wrecked with a good SR 20 in it. I initially wanted a muscle car feel with a small block but I don't like the idea of putting a chevy engine into my import. I'm not too familiar with datsuns so I'm not sure which would be easier or which would fit better. Your input would be deeply appreciated.

I don't know if the FWD SR20 can mount up like the RWD one does.

Keeping it L powered is the easiest, not necessarily the cheapest.

Would I get more power out of the L block?

no less than 6 cylinders in it.

to get more than 300 out of an L, you're gonna wanna go with turbocharging.

the L28ET, 300hp is about the most you can hope for without upgrading a lot of components.

what's your goal?
