I was looking at engine prices and found that an RB motor is not all that much more then an sr20. is the swap alot more difficult to do?, Id rather a skyline motor then a sylvia if it's about the same difficulty to swap . If I cant do the swap by myself How much would a garage charge me?- I have a s13 dohc.

Thanks

I gotta get in before the flaming starts

You better familiarize yourself with the search button... there are about a 100 RB vs SR vs KA-T threads that you can read.

Now in response to your questions....

RB20 should be $1500 or lessSR20 should be $2000 or soRB25 should be $2800 or more.

Whats your budget?

RB20 should have 210hp stockSR20 should have 215 ish with a hair more tq than Rb20.RB25 should have 250+ with more TQ than both.

How much power do you want?

RB20 is close to a direct swap... you can get mounts $400 or you can use a hammer. You will need wiring help. SR20 is a direct swap... stock mounts, etc... just some wiring i believe. RB25 is tougher.. you need stock mounts and driveshaft and wiring.

How much do you want to pay a shop to do the swap for you? Expect over $1000 for an SR swap, RB20 a little more, and RB25 even more.

If you want my advice... go SR20. I have an RB and I love it! But it's no piece of cake to work with. I am not nearly experienced enough as a mechanic to really be working on it. The SR is not exactly simple either, but it is much more popular here in the US... That makes every topic well researched, help is very plentiful, parts are easy to get, etc.... Power potential and ease of install are great.

But, they will never sound as nice as my RB20.

Anyhow... hope that helps.. use the search and you will find a million other opinions.

good luck!

Please keep the questions purely SR related.
