i own a 1972 620 pickupiv seen lots of engine swaps on the 620s from 350 to 22r.but i want to know what engines are good swaps that wont end up needing alot of work to get it to fit and work.

iv been looking at the sr20det ka24det RB20DET and just took a look at a CA18DET.id like to stay nissan/datsun if any one knows the pros / cons of geting these engines to work in a 620 or of an engine im overlooking i would love your help with this, thanks again

If you want to stay simple then swap in a KA. You will need to do some mods but they are by far a more common swap than the CA18.

Buick V6 will swap right in...but it's not Nissan.

is there a year of the engine i should be looking for, im having a hard time finding a engine and 5 speed together, any tips were to look?

Pickups from 91 on(mostly SOHC). 240sx from 89(sohc) 90-98(DOHC).

Look for tuner shops that do a lot of SR20 swaps. They will have KA's coming out their ears and may give them away.

Search craigslist. Its great. I would not pay more than $500 for just the engine especially if you don't get to see it run. The transmissions should also be on the cheap side they don't bolt up to the SR but are the same guts as the SR transmission. The truck ones may have different ratios.

Oh the truck KA blocks should bolt up to the L series and Z series transmissons.

The truck and 240sx transmissions have different bolt patterns.

240sx blocks were cast in Japan and the truck's were cast in Mexico. The Mexican blocks are very similar to the L and Z series engines. They share oil pumps and some other parts.
