in your opinion. well see my KA is like dead. soo im thinking on getting a different engine instead of re-building.

ca18det or another ka24de. -both have round 40,000 miles. (ca doesnt come with wiring harness and ECU) is that a big deal? or hard to find?

-ca is 1120 shipped to my home and ka is 1000.

but ive been hearing good and bad things bout this ca. what are yalls opinon on the CA. i know they are 1.8 and all but i kinda like em. --let me know your opinons. thanks.

Edit: im only wanting to make round 300 hp max.

Japan?

Doubtful, I only say that because that engine was never offered in Japan.

A JDM KA? Did it come out of a JDM vert? lol.

Anyways, I was highly debating the CA but money issues kinda grounded the whole engine swap thing. The CA is great on gas, has a strong bottom end, and is overall usually considered a great motor. It's just they aren't as popular because of their age and competition with the SR.

^ Not really. You shouldn't have any trouble at all actually. There's plenty of people with CA's round here, and that's just NICO.

what's wrong with your current KA? could you not just spend the money on better internals and machining rather than a new engine?

your gonna regret it. get your ka rebuilt and such. your gonna get a CA that hasnt been started in years, and they have very very little aftermarket support because the sr is just that much more popular.

are you sure its knock? KA has timing chain guide issues......it was actually a recall and is not included in current timing chain kits.

Honestly I think you should do more research on both motors before you make a final decision. Check out ka-t.org

I don't get why people say there is NO aftermarket support for the CA. There is plenty. And if he (like many) only wants to achieve 300HP, that can be done with basically bolt-ons. No bottom end work needed. "Aftermarket support" should not really be a concern. What you should be concerned about is the condition of the engine you will be getting.

is the KA you daily driver? cuz you could get new KA internals, bore it out if it needs it( which will give you 3.75" pistons) , get a good used turbo and exhaust manifold for cheap, some piping, turbo downpipe, bigger cams, new valves and valve springs...

The rebuilt KA will be soo much stronger and faster than the CA... I say do a KA rebuild... that way you dont have to hassle with wiring

Wrong. Just because the motor is old doesn't mean it automatically loses 35+ horsepower.

the aussies whack 10 secs in the 1/4 mile with the CA. just the aftermarket support isnt too strong. i was plannin on building the KA with 9:1 pistons with .20 bore and BC stage 2 cams. would have been the quickest KA after i had the turbo set up figured out. just didnt have the funds to do it. =(

There is plenty of aftermarket support for the CA. Its finding OE sensors and what not... I have a CA swap and finally got it going strong at the end of the year, very fun in a light car!

looking at your other posts i dont think you will be able to handle a swap.

theres no way a used KA is a grand

and no you probably won't be able to get the CA to work, its older technology so sourcing stuff is tougher.

why not just have daddy buy you a 350z?

any parent that is willing to buy their kid a illegal engine swap is an idiot; if you arent responsible enough to pay for it how are you going to take care of it?

your ka is probably going out do to your stupid tire shreading
