What engine do I have?

I have an 89 240sx, how do I know what engine is in it, is there a specific marking on it or would I have to look at the serial #. thanks for the help.

You might want to try doing a little research first.

But so long as the car is bone stock, you have a SOHC KA24E.

And the stock motor should be listed on the VIN plate.

if u look between the exhaust manifold and valve cover between number 2 and 3 cylenders its stamped ka24e but if its a 89 chances r its a ka24e sohc

In addition to the above. Look at the vin plate in the engine bay, you will find KA24E or KA24DE stamped on it.

As mentioned above, if your car is stock you will have a KA24E.

is the KA24E worth Rebuilding, and turboing?\

and does anyone have a site link or something to help me get rid of the AC unit, it doesnt work and I just want it out.Thank you for the help so far

What about how to tell what year ka24de i have. If any one has noticed, but the valve covers are different. The 91-94 valve cover has 3 bolts across the top and 2 bolts on the back, and the 94-99 has 2 bolts on top and 3 across the back. So thats leads me to believe that the heads are different. So where's the serial number on the DE to tell exactly what year it is.
