I've noticed alot of high HP/TQ numbers coming from alot of you guys and gals on here. First I would like to say congrats. I've always liked the KA (in the 240 and the Hardbody) and I'm glad you've put the money and effort into proving that it is a worth while motor. My question is, besides turbo kits (and lots of fuel management), what else is on your KA's? Ignitions, wires, pulleys, lightwieght flywheels, cams, cam gears, low comp pistons, etc, etc. Starting a build up next month with an S13 (91 at least, must have DE) and just looking into what else has been done to these cars to achieve the HP.

I have the MSD HVC Ignition, switched over to an S13 distributor so I could use an external coil, which is also MSD HVC. Stock cams, stock cam gears, stock pulleys, log manifold, stock intake manifold. Wiseco 9:1's, crower rods, and a port and polish. Full standalone and some special fuel supply things

I was hoping you guys would answer. Love both your cars. How streetable are your cars? Both puttin' up some hefty numbers on a "throw away motor" (quoting SR guys). Was lookin' at the Boost Evolution Stage 2 Kit on XATRacing, and just wondering how bad the lag is on those t3/t4 hybrid turbos. Thinking of running about, 15 psi on the street.

Oh, BTW, turbo cars driven:

85' Merkur XTi (lol)91 Eclipse

Both at stock PSI. Also got to ride in an SR powered Zenki at 10 psi. Bastard wouldn't let me drive it. :P He knew I'd abuse it.

t3/t4's would have much lag at all on the KA's. the spool up time with a t3/t4 on our ka is compariable to the spool time for the stock T25 on a SR.

yea lag is very over-rated. boost coming on at 3500rpms i think is just fine.

my car is totally streetable. i was daily driving it for the past 6 months. down one day for a bad starter and one day for my brake upgrade (my fualt, had calipers on the wrong sides). as long as you arent rigging stuff up to jsut get by, driving on the street is no problem. only reason i stopped driving my car is for the winter.

^Completely agree. I love the sudden pull at 3500. Helps with traction a little too;)

Can you use the distributor off the E or is it only the DE S13 distributor that uses a external coil and fits the S14? I have no knowledge of the sohc KA, but there's lots scrapped around here...

Alright, good stuff. I didn't think the lag would be that bad, just haven't had a chance to drive something with that big a turbo. And yours is daily driven Structure? That must be great. Yea, the S13 won't see the road for another year or so... between slow funds and not wanting to drive something around half- assed. I start school next month to become ASE certified, so hopefully I'll be able to begin the project shortly and come up with something somewhat respectable. Its gonna be hard considering some of the cars I've seen on NICO.

I would also like this info... Ignition is one of my current issues.

As for my turbo... Only extra in there right now is a Aremotive FPR and colder plugs...

once you get over 10psi with a good tune traction is a joke unless you run drag radials. at 13psi i could never go past 75% throttle in any gear without the rear coming out.

only thing not so great about daily driving it is being paranoid about cops.

My car must be pretty poorly tuned then....I'm running 9 psi and have no traction problems whatsoever in any gear except first....maybe it's the wide, sticky 245 tires out back.

Back to the topic of the post:

Alcohol injection, ASP crank pulley, Fidanza flywheel, PDM stage II cams, accel spark plug wiresb

9psi i didnt have many problems other than 1st either. once i got it up to 13psi and timing right is when i started smoking my 255's.

you also have to thing about differences in our setups turbo, manifold, few other things..

No, the drive mechanism is totally different from the SOHC S13 than the DOHC S13. Only the DOHC s13 dist will work on the s14. However, it is a little harder to get timing marks to on the dist. shaft and it takes a couple of tries to get it on the right tooth, but its simple after you do it 20times like i have now. JWT has a diagram of the wiring you have to do to change it over.

Hope that helpsRick
