I had a GT28/76R (both 0.86 and 0.63 ex housings) both sucked dogs balls at less than 20 psi boost.

wow so lag is that big an issue on these ca18's eh? I only have the stock turbo on and was looking to upgrade to a bigger turbo to hit around 300whp. Suggestions?

T28/Disco Patato, injectors and tuning should get you damn close to that mark. ~280ish With all the supporting mods of course and similar lag to what you are experiencing now.

^ Yep.

OP - Why the 3076? Are you shooting for like 500hp?

Yea, as others have said, go with the S15 SR T28 or the DP. With fuel and tuning sorted out, you should have no problem getting ~280RWHP.

Any idea what a twin scroll gt3076 would do with a Full Race twin scroll SR manifold (with CA flange swapped on) on a CA? Would the twin scroll help enough to overcome the lag?

It will help, but will still be pretty laggy. You'd almost have to find a .48 hotside, and I seriously doubt they make one for that turbo.

Dude, for the record I would NEVER pass up on a free gt3076r. If nothing else it would force you to have a fast-a$s car. Now if you have to pay for it, and it won't be uber-cheap, I would probably go for a gt2860 or .64 gt2876.
