My "Malfunction indicator light" just popped up. Is this something I need to get checked out? My manual says it may indicate an emission control problem. Could it be my exhaust?

Run a diagnostics test, that should give you some kind of idea.

mine has been on since a week after i bought the car... check the code, it will tell you what is wrong... im hoping you have a nissan manual and not a chiltons....

Ya I have the factory service manual. The thing is, Im going on a 2 hour drive on thursday (and obviously a 2 hour drive back)...is it safe enough or am I screwed?
