what does this mean?

i just bought a 2005 G35 sedan, 6sp. i love it. it has only 7k miles on it. anyways, i don't have a copy of the owners manual yet (would have come in handy the first time i tried to go into reverse - had to call a friend to find out to push down on the shifter haha).

between the tachometer and speedometer a light is constantly on that says "REV". what does this light mean? i thought it meant reverse at first, but its constantly on.

It's a shift light. I didn't have one in my 04, but I believe all 6MT's did starting in 05. I'm not sure how to change the RPM setting though.

so if it says "REV" then you should upshift? everytime i looked, the REV light was on. hmm...

does anyone know where i can download a copy of the owners manual?

Infiniti's website has a copy of the owners manual available in PDF format. I think you have to go to the sitemap, then choose something like "ownership" and you should be able to download any factory brochures, manuals, etc....

you can also change when the REV light comes on. Hold the trip button, and toggle through the RPMs to get the max RPM the light will flash on.

it is a shift light and will flash when you need to shift...there is no way to turn it off but it is adjustable

My experience is that there is a red box beneath the word REV that flashes when you hit the preset. REV itself does not.

Personally, I find the REV light annoying since it is on all the time. I would prefer something that is off all the time and only came on when needed. Everyone that gets in the car has to ask about it.

Just tell them that the REV is for the Rev-up engine. It's to identify which G35's have the upgraded engine

Just be sure your not talking about the "SLIP" indicator flashing....this is on when the VSC is active and in use. I never see the REV light flash unless I really wind-up the engine past 7k.

I agree that the REV should only light when its in use though!

No, the SLIP indicator is just below the red box. I've seen that one on too.
