Hey guys. I'm new to this forum but i hope to soon be involved more. Back in late July I got not only my first Nissan Altima coupe. But my first new car. I love it so far and I wanna start modding it. I have an idea where to start but need a direction to go because I'm worried about what could possibly void my warranty. What can and can't I do to my car so I don't void any warranty.

I appreciate the help in advance.

Welcome to Nico!
And congrats on your new car!

Well, the warranty does not really force you into modding one thing and not to mess with the other things.
The warranty will still be available even after you mod anything (Except for the exhaust), but if the dealer can prove that the failure is due to some aftermarket part you put on, then the warranty will not cover it.

That's what I know, i'm sure the guys here can help you more

For every mod you do, that guide is your bible. For instance, I have an intake and cat back exhaust. My exhaust is no longer covered under warranty for any defects. Greddy would have to cover it. However, the catalytic converter and emissions portion is still covered under warranty because I haven't modified it.

My intake is now covered by Injen, but if my power steering fails, Nissan must still cover that because they cannot prove that the intake was the sole reason for the failure. However, if one of my cylinders shoots out of my engine (highly unlikely because all an intake seems to do is add noise and look good), they may be able to make an argument that the intake caused too high a compression and not cover the engine. Again, highly unlikely. You need to do some serious modifications like forced induction or boring and changing cam shafts before you really need to start worrying about what your warranty will cover/not cover.

Read your new bible and you should be okay. :)

So lets say i wanted to lower my car. Would this break any sort of warranty? or install fog lights.

Your warranty for your suspension would be voided. If you put on coils and experience and issue with them, you can reinatall your stock struts which have a lifetime warranty. If you do springs its completely voided.

If you do fogs and have Nissan install them, might not be voided. If you install yourself, might void your warranty on electrics. Its all a grey area and depends on if your car is pre wired or not.
