important conversation between me and my best friend, lets call him Brad, three months ago. Brad told me that his childhood friend was killed on his motor cycle this morning. He was driving home and someone ran a stop sign and killed his friend. I take this to heart and begin to genuinely stop at stop signs, instead of just blowing through them, like most of us are guilty of.

A month passes, and I still stop and those red signs. At 9pm, me and friend, lets call him Bob, are headed home. A young woman decides that the stop sign is a suggestion and rolls past it in he blue Ponotic Suv. I clip her. I was traveling at 45mph and of course my 240sx gets damaged. Her car only looses a bumper and a fender. My passanger, Bob is uninjured, along with the young woman, and myself. All of us were lucky.

After a long two month battle with the young woman's insurance company, we reach an agreement of 2k and I keep the car. The insurance company forces me to change the title to a destroyed title. I'm going to buy another 240 on Saturday.

I've seen so many people run stop signs. And been in a few more near-misses since the accident.

The moral of this tale, please for safety of us all, stop at stop signs.

How do you clip her if she ran it, not you?

That why I always wait for the other car fully stops before I actually cross.
It's saved me and my car a couple of times. I guess in Florida stop signs are lawn decoration.

You do know that some intersections require only traffic in 2 directions to stop right? Most common are small streets that feed into larger ones. And if a person ran such a stop sigh while another was driving down the larger street, it is perfectly feasible that the car running the stop gets clipped. Depends on the timing of the incident.

As for fully stopping at stop signs, that's not the reason accidents occur. The reason accidents occur is because people don't make sure it is safe to enter the intersection. Plenty of people fully stop and still enter when its unsafe to do so. And others don't always fully stop and never get into them. Ultimately, the intent of a stop sign isn't for a person to have to stop there, but rather in hopes that making a person stop will prompt them to actually look and make sure it is safe before crossing the intersection.

Yeah, my high school was located in the center of a fairly old neighborhood that consisted entirely of intersections like that on a 90* grid. Whichever street you're on, if you travel straight you only have to stop at every other intersection.
The reason I mention the school is that the two are a bad combination. You get dumb kids running stop signs across traffic that's not prepared to stop. I developed a habit of slowing at every intersection, which drove my passengers mad...but I had too many near-misses with other cars failing to stop. So yeah...entirely possible to clip someone else through no fault of your own if they run a stop sign.

This should work:

I was traveling down a main road, she was entering from a side street, she had a stop and i didn't. I swerved, that's why It was only a clip. And why no one was injured or killed. It was a woman driver. Just kidding! :chuckle:

safety first y0!

another thing, dont you LOVE the people who stop in the middle of the intersection? preferably with their rear bumper PAST the stop sign line? yeah... thats awesome. I love hesitant douche bags who run a stop sign halfway into an intersection. brilliant. so much safer to stop in the middle of the intersection. keep it up killer.

RAWR

</rant>

(just to clarify none of that was directed at anyone, unless u stop mid-intersection, than... :squint: )
