I noticed when I was detailing the interior of my pathy that there is a brown cable not plugged into the passenger seat. I couldn't find its mate, so i dont know if that is normal, or if I should look around more..

My little sister was telling me that she had the seat warmer on and couldn't feel the seat getting warm.. maybe thats what the cable does??

There should be three wiring harnesses under the passenger seat; the three harnesses are for the heated seat, the power seat and the side airbag. Unfortunately none of those harnesses implement a brown wire. None of them should have any brown at all. Can you describe the wire more? Is it just a singular wire with no other wires twisted with it? Was it not in a sleeve/heatshrink under the seat? Was it under the carpet? Was it laying on the carpet? Does it have a connector on the end? Can you take a picture of the wire in its original location?

Ok so I went down to the garage and snapped a pic for you guys.. if you can see the brown connector comes from the floor, but doesn't plug into anything, and is just sitting there..

What colors are the wires that go to that harness?

There shouldn't be any brown harnesses anywhere near the passenger seat, so I am perplexed.

I can honestly say that I am stumped. Using the FSM wiring harness schematic, there shouldn't be any brown wiring harnesses that have five wires anywhere on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Ya its weird.. and I ran my hand under there to try and find another harness to plug it into, but no luck! I know the car had an aftermarket Hands Free system in it, so now im wondering if thats where the put the speaker.. BUT the handsfree unit wiring to the speaker wasn't at all like this.. This looks like a power source, because with a voltage meter I measured over 22v going to it!

That's not possible, there's no way you measured over 14V at one wire. The red wire in that harness should measure a constant 12-14V and the black will read nothing (ground). The other wires I'm not sure of. I'm just unsure of where this wire is coming from. Can you lift the carpet up a bit and see what general direction the wires are coming from (the passenger door, the back of the vehicle, the front of the vehicle, the center console)?

I think I have the same wire/plug. Im guessing its for the seat heaters. I know on my Audi, the car was pre-wired for a bunch of things and if you didnt get that option, it wasnt plugged in. Which makes sense because they probably install the same wiring for all cars, instead of specific wiring for specific options. They buy the wiring in huge quantities so a few extra plugs isnt going to cost any difference.

Ted you drove/dive an Audi?? what series & chassis? I drove a b6 A4 before I got this car.

Like I said in my OP, my sister was riding shot gun and she said she couldn't feel the seat being heated when her switch was on. I felt mine get quite toasty so when I saw that brown wire just unplugged I figured that must have been for the seat heater.. I dont know of any Aftermarket installers that would run there wiring through the carpets to the bottoms of the seats.. usually they do a quick nip/tuck job on the consoles.

** on a side note.. my audi didn't have seat heaters, since I didnt have the winter package.. I had the sport package so the wiring was, like you said, already present.

The plug for the factory seat heater for the passenger seat is white and has three wires (SKY BLUE, ORANGE/BLACK, BLACK).

The plug for the factory seat heater for the driver seat is gray and has three wires (PURPLE, BROWN/WHITE, BLACK).

That harness looks factory but I've combed through the entire Pathfinder wiring schematic and it's not there. I can't imagine that someone would put in aftermarket seat heaters in a car that came equipped with them from the factory.

Yeah I miss my Audi too.. Luckly my parents bought it off of me, so I get to drive here and there. My problem was it was too much of a shopqueen and always had something getting fixed on it.

I actually dont live in R.beach, my folks live in PV, off PVdr.N, but people never know where that is, so I just use a place (redondo beach) where more ppl are bound to know. Im only here for like 2-3days of the week, otherwise im in Burbank going to school.

Ohh man I never noticed you guys were in Redondo. I go out to Vet's park to dive! And I also charter boats out to PV! BTW I think Vet's has got to be the dirtiest beach in the world. We've found all sorts of trash underwater including a beach cruiser.
