hey guys/girls. i had a stereo in my old 98 240sx and when i sold the car i removed the stereo in the 98 and put it in my 97 240sx.

the amp i have is a KENWOOD and the headunit is an ALPINE.

im in the process of putting the old stereo in my 97 right now and its been about a year since i took it out of the 98.

but i ran into a problem. there is a wire i marked with masking tape that says 'P.CON' . there is a slot marked 'P.CON' on the amp so it goes there for sure. the wire is long enough to run to the front so it goes somewhere up by/on the headunit..but where??

please let me know as this is holding up my install

thanks!!

my guess is Power CONstant. if it's a bigger wire than all the others like i think it is, then you run that under the hood to the battery.

yea that would make sense. but the wire is super thin..like way smaller than normal sized speaker wire. and it wont reach the battery..its not long enough.

hmm

anyone else??

Possible Amp Connections:-Power-Ground-Amp Turn on (AKA "Remote Wire")-Pre-Amp Inputs (typically RCA Connections)-Speaker Outputs (typically screw clamps)

I've never seen an amp with much more than that unless there was some special feature to integrate it with other products from the same manufacturer.

If I had to guess P.CON is the Remote Wire... If you don't know what this does basically it is the on-off switch for the amp and controlled by your head unit so that the amp only turns on when your head unit is on to save power and increase it's lifespan.

yea im a 12volt installer for circuit city p. con is the remote wire. It "tells" the amp when to turn on. hope that helps. Most after market radios have some sort of remote wire so they can be used with factory or after market amps

Wire it into your "Run" portion on your ignition. When the key is in the run position, you're amp will turn on.
