Lately I've really been a fan of the single arm wiper blades (like RainX Latitude, Bosche Icon, etc) rather than the 6 point bracket designs of old, and they seem to work much better. The biggest problem I've had is over winter the rubber blade fatigues and breaks off from the arm, which causes complete failure of the unit.

So I'm wondering, what does NICO buy for wiper blades? Anything particularly successful? Are the fancy single arm designs worth paying about twice as much as the six point bracket designs?

Bosch ICON, and wipe the blade down every week so dirt doesn't get trapped on them.

I run RainX Latitudes but that's only because I got a crazy deal on them. There's no point in me running them if they're not cheap since we only see a max of 10-12 days of rain here a year.

How good of a deal? That is usually the kind I use.

Call me cheap, but I just replace my wipers with the OEM wiper replacements that Nissan manufactures. They do their job well in heavy rain and are only $4.99 from the factory (+ whatever markup the Dealership adds).

Around $7/each. I used to get crazy discounts when I worked at Big O.

That is mighty cheap! Best I have found is around $15-$20 at amazon.

I like Silblade (see www.silblade.com, although you can also find them on Amazon).

I just used their Silicone Ultimate Blade on my car and their Hybrid Silicone Blade on my wife's car.

The Ultimate are the flat blade (without out the six control arms that is) and I have decided that I don't like them as much as the standard type (the Hybrid Silicone is that style). They just don't seem to apply even pressure and will smear the water rather than remove it on the top third of the blade.

So, the next time, it will be the Hybrid Silicone on my car too ... the six arms seem to actually apply better even pressure, i think.

The Silblade Ultimate is a very similar, almost identical, design, but I think I will go back to the standard Silblade Hybrid the next time ...

Buy one get one is good, but they're $20 a piece anyway and tirerack charges me $10 in shipping. Kind of a meh deal for a brand I haven't heard of.

I also use SilBlade. I've had these same wipers for 5 or 6 years now.

1. Regular inserts need replacement far more often than the Silicone kind. The standard rubber hardens pretty quickly and then streaks rather than wiping. Over time, the cost of the Silicone blades are actually cheaper.

2. The Silicone wipers clean the windshield way better than regular rubber inserts to begin with - particularly in heavy rain.

I've never seen an actual study about it, so I can't say for sure you're right.

Also, I don't drive in bad conditions save maybe snow, so it's not an issue. I replace my standard blades twice a year, and I don't get special deals like you people (like most of us) so how can it be said that it's cheaper?

Meh, my friends like your stuff too, so whatever.

I don't get any special deals. :)

Replacing regular inserts twice a year costs $12 or so right? So, costs nearly $50 after 4 years. And, my Silicone replacement after 4 to 5 years costs me about $35 or so.

Hence "cheaper in the long run" for a better clean up front.

However, replacing twice a year with regular inserts is fine too - if you are happy with that, stick with it! :yesnod

I usually run Bosch Icons, but a bought a set of Duralast equivelant ones from Autozone, due to the ones on the Jeep failing during a bad storm on the way to Louisville. They seem pretty decent, although I rarely buy from Autozone.

I've been running Bosch blades since I started driving 10 years ago, they've never failed me, so I've always stuck with them.

Bosch Icons. They were streak free on the Titan for about a year. And they still worked without lifting at 80+ mph. I had tried a Michelin or Goodyear (I can't remember which) equivalent and it started streaking within the 1st month of use and it lifts at high speeds. Switched back to the Icons again a few months ago and again, streak free.I couldn't find any for the CRX and I'm using RainX Latitudes and I'm not impressed. But they are a little better than the other ones I tried on the Titan.

Can you give a valid review after 10 hours of driving? ;)

I blame auto correct for that one, it thinks that abbreviating years to "yrs" is improper, but apparently it thinks "hrs" is a suitable replacement :squint:

All the wipers I've bought dry out and deteriorate before I get to use them more than once or twice. So now I just pick up the cheapest ones they have at Walmart if I know it's going to rain more than a few times that week. lol.
