Gonna need a little more specific info than that... but an SAFC is a shortcut and shouldn't be relied upon for tuning a turbo KA. Ever.

The SAFC goes in between your MAF and your ECU. It tricks the ECU into thinking more, or less air is coming into the motor, and adjusts fuel accordingly.

IN means that you basically want to tell the SAFC what type of MAF you are using. There is a number associated with MAF's that you will use in the IN part of the SAFC.

The OUT means exactly that. You tell the SAFC to OUTput the signal of a certain MAF according to the same chart we used on the IN. This is typically what your ECU wants to see; like the stock MAF number, or if you have a chipped ECU you put in the MAF that it's tuned for in the OUT portion.

Then you go about setting your cylinders, Throttle Position Sensor type, etc.

It sounds harder than it really is. It's really a very simple piece of equipment. The problem is that is adjusts fuel, and not timing; and when you typically add fuel with the SAFC, it starts to advance timing which is bad for a turbo vehicle. So please do some research and make your purchases accordingly.

Any other questions, post up :)

I think Apex-i is the only one that offers a fuel computer like that. Or at least that's the one that I've only come across.

I had one for sale for the longest time, and it finally sold. I would have hooked you up. They usually go for 100-150 most of the time. Check the classifieds and see what you can come up with.

I'm sure there are other companies that make them, I just don't know who they are or how to use them.

a few other make them but damn they cost alot. Basically you can almost go stand alone or nistune for what it cost new..
I enjoyed my afc setup but a rom tune is moar better, turn key every time is a nice feature.

Nistune, standalone, and ROM are the three reliable forms of engine management for a KA. A standalone replaces your ECU entirely, it can control pretty much any aspect of the engine. This is the most expensive option since most standalone computers cost a lot and you have to have it tuned by someone.

A ROM tune is when your stock ecu has been "chipped." Your ecu is given a new set of timing and fuel maps that work with boost. This is the cheapest option at around $300-$500 dollars, as well as the easiest option. You simply send your ecu off and when it comes back you plug it back in and it will work with your larger injectors/larger mafs.

Nistune is kind of a combination of both standalone engine management and a ROM tune. You still use your stock ecu, but it has been modified so that all of the parameters can be altered. You can sometimes find tunes that you can load onto a Nistune ecu that will work with your setup, but usually you have to pay someone to tune it on the dyno.

I prefer a simple ROM tune just because of it's ease and how affordable it is.

thanks dude! =)

but will the computer upgrade from 4x4parts.com work?
it says that you send in your ecu with details about the upgrades you have put on. so im guessing thats a ROM tune? lol
