carbon canister? I'm trying to figure out what to do with that line unless i can find a place to mount my carbon canister since i dont have room under the hood for it. I dont just want to have that line venting fuel vapors under the hood id rather have them go in the canister and get destroyed by the carbon.

I have been looking for a smaller carbon canister from a different car but have not been successful yet.

I figured id ask what everyone else has done!

I left the hard line that comes up the firewall vented to the atmosphere. Been running it like that for more than a year and a half... no problems noted.

I'm in the same boat. Not that I'm expecting this KA to be a super clean emissions vehicle, but I don't really want to vent fuel vapors directly. Creative and clean alternatives welcome!

I just dont want to vent the vapors to atmosphere because of the fact that they are fuel vapors and are highly flammable...

what my buddy did on his supra is the cut the hard line going to the canister, pinched it off, and then drilled a hole in the top of his gas tank cap. seems to be the easiest/quickest way for it to be done. also its not being vented near any heat source so there aint no chance of there being a BOOM!!!!

i actually removed the hardline all the way under the car back to the gas tank. theres some sort of thing that it runs to that keeps gas from coming out of the tank and i just left where it goes into that open.

run a vacuum line to the intake manifold with a check valve that opens at 4 in/hg or so, so it only vents when there is little to no vacuum in the manifold? or could that maybe be a really bad idea..idk, i cant think

Even though thats where it normally goes for emissions purposes.

Anyways if i could find one of these S14 charcoal canister devices maybe id be a golden platoon.

Does anyone sell a pre-vented gas cap so i dont have to drill a hole in mine?

i also have mine vented into the engine bay it always gets blown out by air anyway ie: the clutch fan. and i dont see a prob with it there cuz there isnt as much heat there compared to the exhaust side.

i wouldnt drill the gas cap, even though mine is vented in the bay it still seals the tank, that nice whoosh sound when you take the cap off :D

if you can find a vented gas cap(which I haven't ever looked for but I can't imagine being hard to find), you can just plug the hole. if you can't you need to leave it open. the vapor inside a totally sealed tank can expanded in the heat (summer is coming) and cause the tank to be put under pressure, which may lead to gas leaks. I doubt they would be massive leaks, but you still don't want any.

one other thing, if you find a carbon can you like make sure you hook it up right. there are vacuum diagrams in the FSM that explain how it's supposed to be done. thing is if you hook it up wrong you can do anything from create what the engine/maf will see as a vacuum/boost leak, to pressurizing your gas tank with whatever boost your running.

well you can do 2 things..ive seen both done....you can run the line to the intake pipe just behind the filter...this does 2 things...helps with start ups and couses a vacume in your tank when the engine is running....#2.. ive seen the canister rigged and mounted under the car just past the diff...kinda nice mod to keep it leagal like and clean up the bay at the same time..sorry no picks of those two..but i hope that gives ya idea's
