It's all about process, not product.

On a forum like this (any general car forum), you are going to get responses like this:

"I only use Meguiars."

I use 725 coast of FFX'ed Z5 PRO."

I use five star five year sealant."

I only let Zymoil touch my car."

I had my car sealed with MING."

Truth is, it doesn't matter. If you take the time to prep your car to a swirl-free finish, then you could go pick *any* "wax" off of the shelf at autozone and your paint will win shows. Detailing is prep, prep, prep.

Take some time to research the site above, decide what your goals are for your finish, and then learn the proper tools/techniques to achieve those goals.

Paperfootball is correct, it is much more about technique than the products as long as you're using a good quality product - and there are lots of them out there so it becomes more a matter of personal preference. Do visit autopia and read the "how to" sections. they have a number of good articles there on proper technique.

I wash my car once per week using ChemicalGuys Citris Wash & Gloss

I wax my car once every three months using ChemicalGuys "50/50" carnuba wax and typcially put on 3 coats unless it is after spring detailing when I put on 5 coats.

I strip and clay my car every spring after the pollen stops and apply JetSeal 109 paint sealant and then 5 coats of 50/50

I only use water based tire dressing because "sling" is one of my pet peves and I hate it all over my car.

I clean and treat the leather inside every time I wax the car using Zymol products

I dust and put a vinyl protectant on the inside of the car everytime I wash it.

Wow, you guys must spent tons of time taking care of the car - I am too busy (maybe too lazy) to do crazy stuff like that.

How long it will take you to apply 3-5 layers of wax each time? I wish I could do that and my car will look amazingly hot.

It takes a day to do it... But it actually minimizes care for the next couple months as it is much easier to wash a well waxed car than one that is not. One day of waxing every 3 months or so is not that much effort

I am strong believer in Zaino products! The results on my older Q45 were nothing short of amazing. Neighbors who saw the results thought the car look new (an 8 year old car at the time). Pictures are in the Q forum here at NICO.

I only use Meguiars products on my M45.http://www.meguiars.com/

I usually have either the dealer wash it or take it to Delta Sonic car wash for an exterior wash. Then I shine the tires with Black Magic Tire Wet and use RainX for the windshield.Every 2-3 months, I use Meguirs NXT 2.0 Liquid Wax and Supreme Shine for interior cleaning.

Hey Dashing, which delta sonic do you go to. I assume you get the touchless superkiss or something like that. What color is your car. Do you have excessive swirl marks from delta sonic.

I won't restate what's been said...

But don't take your baby to a car wash (unless it's 100% touchless)! Those things are the reason for many misfortunes on your paint job - make sure you take the time and treat your car right, and it will return the favor!

Just to play the earlier comment - I only use Meguiars

Gold class soap wash at least once a week.Wax once every 3-4 weeks.Clay bar once a season.Vacumnn once a week.Stoners glass cleaner used with newspaper to clean windows once a week.Leather treatment once a month.Swiffer duster to dust inside.

Hello,I agree with virtually everyone here. I have only hand washed or had my car hand washed. Though I am sure it is discussed on the link, I do recommend using dual wash mitts. One for the upper part of the car, one for the lower. Also, common sense things like starting at the roof and working down. Big fan of Zaino as well.Cheers,ML

Yes, at Delta Sonic, I ONLY get the Superkiss. In fact, I get the Superkiss Plus which gives me 3 Superkiss washes for $15. Worth every penny IMHO.

My M45 is silver. I go to Naperville or Downers Grove locations...one is close to home and the other is close to office. No swirl marks whatsoever...ever!

I used to own a black SUV, and got swirl marks/light clearcoat scratches at TurtleWax and dealer (free) washes. Learned my lesson.

Do you think you have no swirls because your car is silver. I know it is hard to see them because my last car was silver.

I've been using Boardwalk - amazing service. Not as cheap as Deltasonic, but the car is a treat after a true hand wash and wax.

I've used most of the well known products before (except 5 Star) but after I found out about Zaino products (Z2-Z8) n 2001, there's no turning back. For clay bar, I use Mothers. I have had no luck using the Zaino clay bar as you can easily drop it on the floor (useless after that) since the Z7 Show Car Wash used with the clay bar is very slippery.

Last year, I took my 97Q for 90K service and my mechanic asked me if I had my car repainted. I said "no" and he just can't believe it.

For leather seats, I use Leatherique Pristine Clean and Rejuvenator. Lexol is also very good for leather care .

Since my car now smokes at 22K miles........... I now decided to use dish soap to wash it and a cheap spray and wax to detail it!

I may even dump some local auto store STOP SMOKE in the engine!

If Infiniti doesn't care that their engine smokes..... I don't care to own their product......

Sorry... I'm just mad at Infiniti and their sub par Engineering decisions!
