Just curious as to what you guys use to clean and condition your leather with. I'm kind of obsessive with trying to avoid dried out/crackly leather so I try to condition as often as possible. There is nothing sadder IMO than seeing an older Infiniti (or any nice car for that matter) that runs and functions great but where the leather was clearly neglected :tisk:

I agree with you about seeing an otherwise nice car, but the interior is torn to shreds! When I had my G35, I used Meguiars 2 Step (Prep & Sealer) Leather cleaner/conditioner. It worked pretty good, kept the leather nice & moisturized. I'm not a pro-detailer, but I was happy with it. I used it on my G20t seats I bought for the G20 out of a junkyard, and it turned them from "so-so" to pretty nice!

What really kills leather seats are UV rays. Cars that are garage kept and/or have tinted windows almost always have better interiors than ones without that.

With that said, I don't like to use a lot of products.. I find that using a warm damp cloth to clean the seats works well.. My leather stays pretty nice in both my cars...

+1 - I know Infiniti used a poly-coated leather on the 90-93 interiors. The poly-coating protects the leather hide, however any leather treatment will not be absorbed into the actual leather. I've wasted some money on leather treatments that were never absorbed into the actual leather.

UV rays are the enemy. Here's a product I learned about from boat owners below.

303 Aerospace Protectant really is like "SPF 40 Sunscreen ... For Your Stuff." Regular use gives 100% Prevention of UV caused slow-fade with regular use. No other "protectant" beautifies as intensely, protects as powerfully or lasts as long.

303 is all I use on the seats and dash.

Do you know if they used the same type of poly-coated leather on the 94-96 models as well? I know they changed the design and feel of the seats, but I wonder if the same coating process was also used. Me personally I've always used Lexol Leather Conditioner on all my cars. I love the way it smells and it seems to keep my seats soft and smooth. I've also heard Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil is supposed to work really well and even reverse dried out leather and restore it back to where it was originally. Never used it though.

You must have seen my Q

As my interior was neglected before I owned this Q I continued neglecting it. As far as the '51 Piper Super Cub I use nothing but coconut oil on the seats. Works great on saddles too. Barring the horse doesn't try to lap it up before you use it. It cleans and conditions miraculously. Keeps it soft and shiny. Put a dollop in a bowl and leave it in the sun to melt. Great thing is it hasn't much of an overpowering scent.

I have a bottle of Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil that is sitting in my cabinet with 3 or 4 other types of Leather treatments collecting dust.

Unlike Euro cars, I believe all Infiniti leather is poly-coated. I found some leather treatments when soaked into cracks actually cause the leather to deteriorate faster. I used Leatherique to try to stop the cracking only to find the existing cracks opened in a few and exposed the foam underneath..

Infiniti's leather is coated....Lexol and/or Blue Magic conditioner works best on Infiniti leather seats. You will just need to rub the conditioner in the leather and let it soak/set in for 30-45 minutes. Then wipe off any excess conditioner that's on the seats. The seats will remain "sticky" for about one day or two.

Lexol on my 84' 300ZX seats for nearly 30 years and 13 of the 15 of my 97' Q45. Use the clearer and follow-up with the conditioner, they work great.

and as they said, most important of all, COVER UP in the sun. People laugh at me as I have tons of beach towels in each of my cars and when I park in the sun I put up sun shades and cover all seats with the beach towels. This saved my leather seats for my 3 years where I lived in PHX. If you cannot garage, cover them up with towels when you're parked and get sun shades for front and back.
