I am very confused in life. i dont know what to put into my car. i kinda want to just be legal and tweek with swaping a ka24de and dump the ka24e. then some days i wanna get an rb25det. and even others a vq35de out of a 350z. everyone tells me just go sr20 cuz its cheap and easy but everyone and there mom has one yea easy but still. and i was wondering with this being a ca18 page what are your opinions about the ca18 im open for anything and everything what im looking for is ease cost and lagitimacy. i kinda like the ca18 cuz noone where i live has one but everyone i know thinks there slow and would punch me in the eye if i got one. but i just wanna know what people think and what not so just hit me back with what you think thanks

you my friend, need to sit down and think of what you want. many peaple go threw this, especially in cali. first, are you prepared to run illegal? if not, it definatly limits your options. VQ,s doable. pricey, lengthy, but badass. KA.s can be fun. tons of peaple keep em and love em. and you always have the option to turbo it.(apear to be legal) if you wanna say F### CHP, then you got endless choices of that you know. Every ones mom will say to go SR, so what if every one has one, theres a reason for that. they work, and work well. RB,s more power, more weight, but will give you that "little bit different" aspect that your lookin for. find out what you want and dont. then do a sorta pro/con about the motors. hope that helps

Just because "everyone and their mom" has an sr20 doesn't mean you shouldn't get one. They're good engines. With that said, I used to be dead set on getting a CA18, but then prices of sr20's went down and I decided I wanted an sr20.

But after getting pulled over a bunch of times, and Irvine police specifically asking me if I had a "Silvia engine" or even more specifically, "an sr20", I've decided I'm just going to rock the KA until it dies. And then get another one. And another one.

Until I've realized that I've spent enough on KA's to buy a daily driver, at which point I'll buy a daily driver and start saving up for an sr20.

California sucks if you want a swap for a car that's also a daily.
