There's nothing wrong with that converter! I have the same exact one in my Q and guy's who have pulled beside my Q with stock converters wonder why I get the hole shot advantage. I can't speak on the Billet converter but I know that I wouldn't waste the money to upgrade from what I have to the Dragon. Takes a little getting use too the stall portion espically when your use too driving a Q with a stock converter. Plus U can see in the pic's part of the process being performed! If U are interested just shoot me an E-MAIL!

Maybe, if you were launching a space shuttle. ATF would require it's own radiator sized cooler.

with all do respect Brian, when was the last time you drove a Q with a high stall converter? Its not like you think it is! if you HAVE driven one (with around 3000 stall), then im sorry....

A Billet torque converter is more efficient (thus less losses due to friction, thus less heat), so i probably wouldnt run a 3500 unless it was in billet.... 3000 is nice, and my trans doesnt get terribly hot.

Never will. No relevance to street performance, unless your whole world is stoplight drag racing.

Never jumped off a twenty story building ever. Have jumped in the lake, but I knew what the bottom profile was first.

That is CERTAINLY not true! it makes a HUGE difference in real world driving... IMO its better than having a 4.08 differential, its just as fast off the line, if not faster, and you dont lose any top end or fuel economy.... Its smooth when you want it to be...

If I ever drive my Q out to TX ill let you drive it and youll see the difference.... Plus you can see all the other mods that Ive done that you would LOVE!!!!

Ok, sorry to threadjack here, but my knowledge of automatic transmissions leaves something to be desired. What is the stall speed, and why does raising it make the car faster off the line? My assumption is that the torque converter locks up sooner, but I don't really know. An explanation of stall speed and what exactly it means would be awesome.

Torque convertor NEVER lock in acceleration they only lock up at steady rpm cruising when everything is up to operating temperature.............the moment there is any load they unlock...........the lockup clutch is tiny and cannot take much power or it will slip and burn up.

For best economy the TC stall is set for the speed limit [2000-2200 rpm =60>66 mph]...................the stall speed varies with the torque at rpm......if you increase the engine torque the stall speed automatically increases roughly by the same percentage.

Efficiency [unlocked] of a TC is related to slip % and rpm. As you raise rpm the efficiency declines and this shows up as more heat transfered to ATF under acceleration.

One must be very careful of a long up incline [unlocked TC] in Summer AC on as the ATF can overheat [why most add extra cooling above oem]. design]

Think about it this way.. When you drive a manual trans, you can roll into it at like 1500 RPM for a nice smooth takeoff... Or, you cna roll into it at about 3000 RPM and youll get up and go quite a bit faster...

sort of the same idea, except it doesnt ALWAYS go up to 3000... When i drive my Q under low acceleration, its not much different than a stock Q, but when i hammer the gas it gets up and goes much quicker....
