What do you think is causing the vibration?

2007 G35x with 91K.

Vibration that come and goes. vibrates the wheel for 45 seconds-1 min..then slowly goes smooth for 25-35 seconds..then slowly comes back to vibrating. Been doing this for 35k miles. On bridge connectors and bumps at highway speed the car hops and jars loose over these bumps

It's not wheels or tires ( already went though that scenario)

I THINK my control arm bushings have tears in them. Also i think i need new shocks. ( don't think ever replaced)

What is your guess? Since the it comes and goes and isn't constant.. my guess is it has to be something that seems to be out of sync. Like drive shaft balance. But could bushings make a vibration come and go? Same with shocks?

Several things to check...

First, if it feels like the tail end of the car hops sideways a little over bumps, your alignment is way off (specifically, rear toe). At 91K miles, you're past-due. This will also tell you if you have bushing issues (unlikely).

Second, definitely replace shocks. They're only designed to last 30-40K miles.

Third, go get a GOOD wheel and tire balance from a shop that has a Hunter balancer (ask for a Road Force balancing). Static spin balancing is for commuter cars that never see high speeds. A G deserves a proper balancing.

Fourth, make sure your wheel bearings are good. With each wheel in the air, grab the wheel at top and bottom and rock it. If you feel even a tiny bit of movement (a tiny click or thunk), that's next on the list.

I'd be a chunk of change that will resolve your issue. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the quick response. I know my alignment is off. My wheel has to be a tad right for the car to go strait. My car gets out of alignment it seems every year or so. Got an alignment last year and my car is already tracking right. Always seems to get unaligned some how and track right of left like 6 months after alignment. My tires wear weird and i bet part of it is shocks.

I have had 10+ hunter balances on 4 sets of tires. So unfortunately that doesn't fix it.

It looks like shocks are about $85 each for the fronts which is perfect. How big of a job is it?

Above is a spring installation how-to, the steps to replace the shocks are similar.
