So I have an old, ultra cracked s13 dash. And I was thinking that I wanted to wrap it up in some kind of fabric. But when I told a few people about doing that, they were like "Wow man, if it comes out nice let me know I'll give you $100 to do mine."

What do you guys think about that? If it looked good, and you picked out your own fabric and color of thread, would you be down to pay to have your dash shipped out and wrapped up? What would a realistic price be? Give me some feedback, good or bad I wanna hear.

I'd be down for that, those are all 100x easier than doing dashes. Shipping door inserts wouldn't be fun though.

Shipping with UPS or FedEx is like in the ballpark of $150-250 i believe. I shipped my dash with Greyhound for $20. I also heard Amtrak is good with shipping huge pieces.

Mostly what I was hoping for was that people would go out and buy someones cracked dash on craigslist for $5. Then it wouldn't be a problem shipping with a budget company.

waste of money when you can just roll down to a yard and pull one for $20

Good luck wrapping a dash. There are going to be places that won't be held down at all no mater how much glue you put on them. If you have skills with a sewing machine, you might be able to get it to work, but then you should be charging a lot more than $100.

Maybe it's that easy for you. Not everyone has awesome yards filled with un-touched perfect 240s. I live in the desert, the odds of me finding an un-cracked dash are slim even from someone doing a part out... in a junk yard those chances are much slimmer.

You will quickly learn why upholstery shops charge so much for a job like this. Have you ever even done anything like this?

The only problem with a service-based business is that you can't scale it without putting in the hourly labor.

Out of curiosity, how many hours would a dash re-upholster take, Broadfield?

Oh yeah, I know it's not an easy thing. But so far I've been pretty decent at upholstering. I enjoy the intricacy of it. But no, I have not done a dash before...
