Long story short, my CF hood flew up and cracked in several places. This is the nice, repaired, hood.

Looks like it needs to be adjusted slightly to the passenger side, and the scheme looks fantastic.Where'd you get it?

I got the hood from ViS.. $390 shipped, good to have friends who own shops . As for the painting and such, my friend Charles Turner, who professionally restores 1964.5-1966 Mustangs helped with all the sanding, repairing, painting, etc. From a CF hood cracked in 4 places, with the corners ruined, to a perfect looking, "super black" hood- I think it looks great! (Also, the reason for going 2" over the body lines was because a crack extended past the line, and had to be repaired). We got an extremely thin blue pinstripe to help define the line, and it matches my Z32 calipers, and my valve cover. Really helps the hood stand out- but it's very subtle.

The paint job is hot!!

Your'e lucky you didn't get in a accident, I had a friend who had a retarded 'vader style' fiberglass hood on his fastback that flew up on him on the highway. As gay as they look, hood pins are a necessity for CF hoods. I'm sure someone sells black ones out there so it doesn't stand out on your gorgeous kouki.

I was going around 40-45mph when it flew up, and fortunately there wasn't much traffic, I was able to get out of the car and get the hood back down before any cars came up the road, and I managed to stop before I ran up onto a curb. I've had one too many close calls driving.. From coming a few feet from side swiping an oak tree, to avoiding a telephone pole by 8" while coming out of a ditch and then proceding to go through a field, do a 360 and land in another ditch (Volvo sedan).. I'm going to have to call it quits on the excessive speeding..

that's a mature decision, i had my excursions as well. It's not worth it, it's already hard enough avoiding all the morons on the road and their inability to follow the rules of the road.

I'm just glad that in my close calls I was either alone, or no one was hurt. No other cars were involved. I've walked away from all of them with nothing more than a bruise or two. Someone up there is definitely looking out for me.

Hood looks great, but you really should get some pins. I would never run mine without them, seen that happen way too many times.

I just can't stand hood pins... All of the ricers around Durham have hood pins drilled into their stock hoods. All the Stanzas, and Cavaliers, and Civics have 'em. Are there any real carbon pins out there? I've looked all over for decent ones, but to no avail.

EDIT: On a side note, the reason the hood flew up was because the safety latch broke.

well, on that same note, a good amount of guys running the track alot also use pins, its not just ricers. i know sparco makes anodized red ones, maybe they have black as well.

Well, don't forget that the ride of the month has a two tone CF hood I'm not a real fan of hood scoops, esp since I'd have to paint over all the CF to get one put in there. Hood scoops typically are not worth the time or money. I'd rather get an aluminum radiator, or FMIC

Thanks for all the positive comments! Really makes me feel good that I saved some of the CF, and didn't have to paint over it- and everyone thinks it looks decent too

looks hot ... personally i would have had the pinstripe line on the creases in the hood so it would have aligned with the front grill but thats just me...

Well, I would have done that, but the pinstripe helps cover up the little imperfections on the edge of the paint

that looks really out of place on an otherwise stock looking 240. if it was me i wouldve had it painted black.

get some hoodpins. having a fiberglass hood with no pins is not safe. i cant believe you still havent put hood pins in it after having it fly up on you. its not an aesthetic decision, its for saftey. if you dont like how they look, get a metal hood. dont make irresponsible decisions just based on looks.

i dont think it looks out of place... and i think most of the time the 97-98 240s dont need anything done to the body to look hot... just some nice flush wheels,a lowered stance, a nice exhaust, and a shiny IC and your all set

Word up, that's hot, yo!

My 240 is having some rust issues that I would like to take care of this summer. I want to grind then off. If that doesn't work I'm going to cut them out and fibreglass the hole...And your hood has inspired me...I think I might try something similar on mine.

The inital reason the hood flew up was because it wasn't closed all the way- it wasn't because the actual latch on the hood broke. It is held securely by my factory bracket, as long as it's closed all the way I agree, it would be advisable to put hood pins in the car, but I havent had any problems with the hood flying up as long as it's properly closed.

As for the "otherwise stock looking 240", I just ordered a Navan spoiler, and the Nissan 3" front lip and Navan Sideskirts/rear valences will be on their way momentarily.
