I just upgraded my XM receiver. Its been an awesome year and a half, worth every cent, and I get all the cable news and talk stations without having to buy cable TV or rely on the few local radio stations. Plus, there's all the music.I used to be big into minidisc, then switched to MP3s, and now its all about satellite radio.

For the record, I HATE Jessica Simpson. She just happened to be on while I was taking the photo.

I've been considering getting Sirius or XM since I have a head unit that is compatible with them. What's the pricing on XM? I'm really getting tired of the radio stations around here. They've all gone soft and play 20 minutes of ads between song sets. It's dusgusting.

I didn't realize how similar the Q45 interior was to the third generation Maxima interior. Interesting.

I use mp3's on CD's, or just good old CD's. I rarely listen to the radio because it's 90% ads, and I can't stand it. And I have Duran Duran on CD thank you very much.

The J30 interior is really similar to the S14 interior too. I just noticed a couple months when I had my first ride in a J30, it was uncanny. Just wider.

I listen to the bliss of the VQ35DE snarling at the other cars on the road.

And what a wonderful sound it is. Especially when it's drowning out fart can rice noises. But no matter the context, the VQ35 sounds damn sexy!

I don't belive in paying to listen to music.. and my CD's now seem to skip since the ride is harsher than before so it gets annoying... on good roads.. my MP3 CD

XM used to get the KISS FM rebroadcast from Los Angeles, but a lot of listeners complained that 1) Sound quality from an FM rebroadcast was crap 2) The DJs sucked 3) The music sucked (for a pop station) 4) Most people didn't care what was happening in LA 5) They had ads!

So XM turned it into just a hit music station of their own with no ads, but have not yet renamed the channel.

Methinks he doth protest too much. I wouldn't have Jessica Simpson on anything that would ever be photographed, except maybe my bed (ahem).

For commuting: It's Howard Stern in the morning (who just signed a deal with Sirius), and in the afternoon it's Mike and the Maddog (WFAN-New York).

What do you think of the sound quality. My brother has the Sirius and it seems like a low sample rate MP3 to me. It's not untolerable, but noticable. I have not heard XM in a car, but I imagine it being about the same.

Anyone?

Im not into Stern, but I think it'll get Sirius a big surge in subscriptions. Their stock jumped 18% in a day on the announcement. XM just got Opie and Anthony -- never heard of them until XM got them.

I like how the FCC is getting a nice big middle finger.

For music, XM is much better, as they devote more bandwidth to it and have more channels, while Sirius downsamples the audio.

Same for me, except I don't have a boost gauge. Substitute squeaks, rattles and clanking noises for moonroof, turbine and exhaust.

Anyway, I hate the radio and don't listen to CDs in my car since my stupid changer can't play MP3s or burned copies of my CDs. I'm too anal to stuff my original CDs in the changer.

I've seen that Alpine is releasing some kind of adapter that lets you hook up an iPod to one of their head units. I'd love to be able to hook up a cheap 1G or 2G iPod to my car stereo.

I had to vote for MD's just so it wouldn't be last . I've been listening to a CD for the most part lately. When I commuted ALOT, it was either Howard, G Gordon or Don & Mike.

MD's are the Infiniti of the audio format. If it had been marketed at all, and they weren't so "Sony" abou it, it would have done very well. Amazingly, it still has a presence, which I attribute to it's popularity in Japan. If it wasn't for that we'd neevr see any here in the US> As it is, we never see the good models and such here now.
