Except for the rear seat and hatch area room my dislikes are relatively minor. I can't fathom why the crossbars are not only fixed in place, but have only 19 inches between them, or why my $45k plus cuv doesn't have a remote hatch release, nor why I can raise the rear seats from the console, but can't drop them. The front seat cushions don't tilt forward enough, and I agree the cupholders are too close together; the lock outs and general command structure of the nav system needs reworking, and why can't we get speed limits on back roads as well as built in (non Sirius) traffic. I can get those on a $200 Garmin. The light in the hatch area is too dim, and how many cars in this class do not have signals built into the mirrors? I can get cooled seats on a Kia why not an Infiniti? What is up with the black stained wood near the arm rests instead of making it match the glossy maple (or walnut, whatever it is)? If you are listening Infiniti, how about an S version like the G (sorry Q50) has with adjustable seat bolsters, aluminum pedal trim, a few body and wheel enhancements and shift paddles? Better mileage, perhaps with the new hybrid system ported over would be nice as well.
What do I like? The power is good and with my R2C intakes has more immediate response, better midrange, and a satisfying growl when accelerating. The 7 AT is remarkably smooth and in DS mode both intuitive and fun, and I really like the little throttle blip when it downshifts as I pop into a hole in traffic on the highway. Even with the 19 inch low profiles the ride is extremely well modulated and far more comfortable than my G37xS was. It may not handle as well, but I like the road feel better. The stock all season Turanzas stick remarkably well, and there is just enough lean to make it entertaining to throw into a curve without worrying that you have gone beyond the bounds of all common sense. I thought the G had a nice interior until I got the EX. It is far more lux and comfortable and I think it is quieter too. The egress and exit is much easier due to the height and roofline, as well as offering somewhat better visibility on the highway and better ground clearance in the winter. I love the AVM and the music box, but do think 9 gigs is a bit light these days. I also like the Bose, eventhough I know this is not a universally shared sentiment. At first I thought the utility aspect was a joke, but after adding a hitch find I can use it to haul kayaks, bicycles, and even tow my single place snowmobile trailer, while still allowing reasonable room for some luggage and associated gear. Coming from a G I was not initially inspired by the design. It seemed too rounded and short, and rather soft and feminine looking in comparison to an FX, but is has grown on me big time. I get unsolicited comments with some regularity and I now really like the long hood, short roofline look. From the side it almost seems as much a fastback as it does a hatchback or suv, and the curves are really seductive. I also like it fore and aft, and those twin cannons below the rear bumper give it a hotrod vibe. The small amount of EXs on the road give the EX an exclusivity that is really appealing. But most of all I like the versatility. I can't afford to have a luxury car, a sports car, a winter warrior, a truck/suv to tote and tow all my toys, and a daily commuter. With the EX I have these all in one. And when the highway is clogged up and even my comfortable cocoon isn't enough to keep me crawling happily along, I grab an exit, shift to DS and find some winding, almost empty back roads that will get me to work at about the same time, but with a much bigger smile.
