i can get some HKS coilover for... lets just say cheap. now with that noted would it be better to get some AGXs with ground control coilover kit or the hks coilovers??

i calculated it and agx with ground control + shock/strut mounts = ~$700and the HKS coilovers aren't that far away.

so any thoughts?

i say coilovers but i'd like to see what you guys think... keep in mind they are for DD + (3 times a years or less) track/drift usage

Well that combo was popular for the Honda heads years ago and thats where I constantly saw complaints similar to a friends s14 GC/Agx combo. 1 being the actual threads of the "coilovers" fitting over the agx body. apparently it was too snug or didn't fit at all. 2: the way the GC coilover threads sat on the shock. It would sit unstable on some weld spots of the shock instead of the actual seat of the shock. then 3: tire rub. He was running 300zx turbo wheels so he had rubbing up front no biggy.

then again this was years ago. maybe it was just some manufacture defaults that is sorted out now do what you please

well i was reading on their website that
ground control wrote:This kit fits 89-94 Nissan 240SX with Koni, KYB, or KYB AGX shocks (please specify shock type before ordering).

* removal of stock spring seat required
but im not sure what they mean by that...? do you have to cut the springs seats? and weld the GC in?

that makes sense. Back then the GC coilovers where made for koni yellows and people would try to put them on other shocks to save a buck, hence the fitment. thats why it's important to specify which shock you use with their coils. No welding needed. just means you dont have to reuse the stock ones b/c the GC kit comes with some
