Okay, so today, me and my girlfriends (whom I will refer to as Kayla) mom got into a HUGE fight. Heres the story:

I was on Facebook and posted Out... on my wall as in out for the day. My sister and I joke around with each other a lot, calling each other gay, etc., etc. Harmful sibling fun. (In no way do I mean any disrespect to anyone who is gay. It's just a running joke with my sister and I) Anyways, my sister commented on my post and said "Good for you! When do you break the news to Kayla? haha". I'm also friends with my Kaylas mom and she seen this and thought that my sister was implying that Kayla likes to track every move that I make. So, she copies and pastes all this onto her wall for the rest of the family to see. Really mature too, I know. I had no idea that all this had happened as I was washing and waxing my car for most of the afternoon. When Kayla told me that she re-posted what I and my family said on my original post, I was furious. Every time Kayla and I get into a spat, her mother calls everyone in the family and tells them about us fighting. As if it's any of their business or hers in the first place. So, I just got in the car and came home to avoid starting a fight with her. She calls me when I get home and begins to tell me how she doesn't appreciate how I take things out on Kayla and how my sister talked about Kayla watching what I do. I said no one meant anything about Kayla. That was a joke directed to me. And I don't appreciate you running your mouth on Facebook behind my back and calling everyone in the family every time we have a little spat. It's none of your business what I or anyone else says to me, and if you have a problem with it, be an adult and come say it to me, not run behind my back and talk about me like a 12 y/o junior high girl. Then after I told her off and she had no other comeback, the woman has the nerve to just hang up on me. So, now I'm not allowed to go to her house anymore. I said fine by me, I won't have to listen to her mouth anymore. What's your thoughts on all this?

CLIFFNOTES:

-Sister and I joke around on Facebook-GFs mom takes joke wrong way-GFs mom goes behind my back and tells everyone making me and my family look bad-I call GFs mom out -She hangs up on me and says I'm no longer allowed in her house

Should I just let this go and let it work itself out on its own or what?

/end rant

I'd also say it sounds like her family is Hispanic.

Depending on how serious the relationship is I would say dump the daughter. Not worth the bulls*** you have to deal with just for her. A big part of a relationship is getting along with family.

I think your girlfriend's wife is a bored middle-aged woman with no life who needs to learn to keep her nose out of her daughter's business. Take her off your Facebook friend list, block her a**, and find a different place to visit your girlfriend. Not that it matters, but what does "Kayla" think about the situation?

Was that a joke? haha, I can't tell if you're being serious or joking around!

I've considered it dude to be honest, but we've dated for 5 years and I really care about her and love her. I don't want to end it just because her mom is nosy and likes to gossip.

Exactly. She has NO life WHATSOEVER. She stays in the house on the computer for days at a time. Won't even go get her own cigarettes. Makes her daughter do it for her, which I'm fed up with too, btw. Kayla isn't happy at all. She does this all the time. I've just kept my mouth shut about it too long. I didn't want to get things started with her for Kaylas sake. But it's time that she learns that people won't put up with that nonsense and she has no right to talk about or judge me or my family.

EDIT: Kayla really is her name Bex in case you were thinking I didn't want to say her real name.

Serious.

You play it pretty close to the chest when you date a Hispanic girl sometimes and you're not. Just an observation I've made from dating a bunch of them. My mistake tho.

Is she able to change her situation? I don't know her age or financial status but if she's unhappy and is capable of getting out from under her mom's thumb, now would be a good time.

Yeah, I know. When you're with a girl, you get the family with it. But I just don't wanna throw everything away, you know?

Nah, I'm pretty sure she's good!

She's still in college and I just got out of trade school, so at the moment there is no way financially to get our own place. I've been looking painstakingly looking for jobs, but there is just nothing around here right now besides fast food. And I'm going to have to start getting my own insurance soon as mine is going to run out since I'm out of school, so fast food income just won't give me enough extra to make rent, bills, etc. Idk what to do.

Kayla's mom's reaction does seem really immature, and to confront her with what happened makes sense. How did Kayla feel about it? Did she take your side? One thing I've learned is that if you want a relationship to work, it's important to support each other. Doesn't mean she has to alienate her mom, but she might want to talk with her mom and try to make her understand she's mistreating someone her daughter cares about. (She may have already done this, I don't know) You may end up just having to leave her mom out of your relationship so she doesn't have anything to feed off of.

Yes leave this chick. Cite that her mother played a large part in to why she is currently single.

I just want to hear what happens after my suggestion.
