Still not sure why anyone would want to do this. Function >> form.

55w HIDs? Good luck getting those to last. Your ballasts/bulbs are going to be consumed faster. Also, you may end up warping your headlight housing from the heat. Finally, do the world a favor and verify your aim. 55w HIDs (assuming that's what you actually have, though I truly doubt it) do NOT belong in reflector housings. The amount of glare they throw off is ridiculous. IMO, this whole thread is pretty much a bad idea...

I'm happy that you're happy for tinting your headlights. I personally think that it's one of the stupidest things people can do to their cars. "Mmmmm It's hard to see at night with headlights on, but let me make it even harder and tint the SIHT outta my headlights so I can possibly hit someone while I'm driving." Like I stated this is just my opinion.

although i'm not going to be as blunt as the previous posters i do agree with them. i think it looks good but i personally think its a dumb idea, thats like tinting your windshield in a way. plus with 55w ballasts thats another no no. just get 35w 4300-5000k HIDs with no tint or gtr style tint and you are good to go.

lol maybe you should get some fogs so you dont run over any chitlins, but on the other hand i had a friend hit a kid in broad daylight, stone cold sober. if you ask me, its a life lesson. i got hit by a car and you know what? it put a stop to my j-walking habbit when i was younger.

ya, j-walkers irritate the s*** out of me. never hit anyone before but cant say I havent thought about it lol here in Cali, they'll walk right in front of you and when they see your light turns green, they walk SLOWER and try to mug and think they're "cool" because you have to wait for them...

about the lights. looks nice. with 55 watt HIDs the OP wont have to worry about not being able to see. I had 35 watt HIDs (5000k) and they were bright as hell.

Looks good!

Looks over function, not an issue as long as you can see... Is the HID output thru the tint brighter than the stock halogen?

False. I can see better at night with my hi beams on, so would you recommend I drive around with them constantly on? If you were the only car on the road, I'd say knock yourself out. But blasting other drivers with glare is supremely hazardous. AFAIK, 55w HIDs are not legal anywhere in the US. Watch out, I know cops in my area pull over for that sort of thing.

Also, LBC, you make overlays for headlights. Do you know if they have any thermally insulating properties? If so, I'd be really worried about that heat. The best 55w solution for HIDs is probably the philips DL50 bulb (which I highly doubt is in use here as they are fairly rare and pricey). Everything else is basically a 35w bulb with more power thrown at it. This gives it a drastically reduced life as well as putting out insane amounts of heat.

why is everyone bashing the tinted headlights. I got smoked headlights and with 6000K HIDs the output is def better than stock and actually prevents some of the glare I had without the tint. I only have them with smoke laminate because I thought the black would be too dark. Personally Im not a fan of tinted lights on white cars. Only reason I did it was to hold me over until they finally (hopefully) create blacked out projectors.

I constantly see people talking about glare from the headlights and how we "need" projectors. when I pull into my driveway at night, I see the cut-off from my lights. the little section that I painted black when I baked my lights, that blocks part of the light like the cut-off on projector lights.

i think they need to rethink the whole pedestrian right away thing. it gives the stupids too much power over traffic. like hussain said, when folks walk out in front of you on the green and tip their shopping cart over and scatter their cans and bottles everywhere. lol bums just piss me off... what ever happened to bum fights? that sh*t was raw lol

btw, i like your lights, but i just hope that's not you in the pink shirt next to the car hahaha jk jk

You need to be careful when installing after market HIDs into a stock halogen headlight. With the regular halogen headlights the vertical lines are close together and the bowl angle is wider to spread the light . With the stock HID headlights the light is obviously brighter. The vertical lines are spaced further apart and there is a horizontal line that runs through the bowl there by angling the light further down towards the payment. Without this vertical line, an aftermarket HID can throw light everywhere and there by essentially blinding oncoming traffic.
