i started my97kat today and for some reason it seems as if it has very very bad lag, it seems as if the turbo doesnt spool until about 4000 rpm, im using a nsport kit with a t04b,also it backfires pritty bad but maybee becuase ive nly got the downpipe and it isnt hooked up to my exhuast yet?anyways iwas trinig to watch all my guages but it seemed as if the boost gauge read 10-12 psi in first gear, the deltagate2 is set for 8, do you guys just think im running way to rich?

Check for a boost leak. That's the first thing that comes to mind with the problames you are describing. Though, I'm not sure why the gauge read 10-12 psi.

4000rpms isnt too bad, but what gear is it in? if its first then thats defintily normal. 10-12 psi is what my nsport kit was doing with the deltagate. i ended up blowin my stock engine cuz of that. i tried adjsuting the **** out of the wastegate and it didnt do anything. the onyl reason it lasted for a month was because the boost was blowing out the spark at higher rpms. once i fixed that then i had a bigger problem

yea but you know how when u put on an aftermarket exhuast you hear more little backfires? thats cause its nto as rescrictive making it easier to hear. imagine having 18" on 3" tube as your exhuast you hear it alot more. i could be the runnign rich backfiring but it doesnt seem like its that bad with the way hes talking. and belive me you wonte be runnign rich with the nsport fuel system at 10psi

i have a apexi afc , will i be able to run 10 psi with the afc tunned on a dyno?i also have 370cc injectors that i havent put in yet , im hoping that when i get the downpipe connected to the exhuast and put the 370cc injectors in i can get it on a dyno and tune it with the afc, to be pretty reliable! what do you guys think?

a boost controller will only let you boost higher than the wastegate. get a tial. i sold my deltagate after like an hour on ebay for like $110 shipped and got my tial for $200 shipped from a guy on nico

the deltagate has a screw adjustment on the top, instructions say to screw it in for more boost, will this also work in reverse?can i screw it out to get less boost.

yes, you unscrew it, which releases tension on the spring, so it will open up easier and give you less boost. it depends on what spring is in it. you can't go lower than what the spring is for.

my deltagate i got from nsport is set to 7.5psi i think? thats why im concerned about hitting 10-11 psi, is the deltagate that big of a piece of @%$# that it overboosts that bad on a 7.5 spring?

or is there something els i can do to limit the boost?

i mean if it sucks that bad why does turbonetics even offer a 7.5 spring?maybee its just becuase the wastegate is new?

the deltagate is suppose to be adjustable from 5-7psi. it does have a bad name, but some guys have done good with it. maybe they wanted to run 10psi tho. jsut a get a new wastegate before you need a new engine. if anything as it gets older it would overboost fromt he spring getting weaker

a manual boost controller jsut like an electronic boost controller will only let you increase the boost.

i would think it would overboost but i could be thinking of it the opposite way

wow didnt see that coming. did yours come with extra springs? mine had a blue, green and red on the side. i prolly had a silver or black in mine. no wonder. kinda sucks all i had to do was change the spring and i would prolly still be on my stock engine. o well live and learn

i dont know what red is, turbonetics just listed the four i have. mine came with a extra green, blue, silver, so im gonna put in the blue 5-7 psi and use the screw adjustment on the top to get 7

well hallelujah!

Gald we figured that out.I figure that fro the costs of a deltagate, then theya re perfect for the guys running stock motors. When you build the motors, id go for the tial unless your deltagate is holding up well. I think im gonna get a deltagate for the current motor for now.
