Pointless for a turbocharged motor IMHO. At boost if you start detonating there will be no "oh I see the red light and I should let off of the throttle." You won't have time. The temperatures are too hot and the pressure too high, if you start to detonate than the damage is done before you even realize it. Safer than this is to use high octane fuel, run a little rich, and don't boost more than your engine (and support) can handle.

Not really pointless, but the way he has it advertised makes it seem that way. There are many different levels of knock, not all of it is audible(to the human ear) or results in an instant engine KO.

A knock warning system is really helpful when tuned correctly. Its a great tuning tool, and can be tied into things like an EMS for timing retard or even ignition cut. The thing is, the Ka is a very noisy engine and really needs a 'tuneable' knock detection system or you will pick up a lot of false positives. Who knows what that DIY built system on ebay does or how it would react with a Ka.

Your best bet is to go with something like the Turbo XS knocklite or Knocksense to name a few good ones. You wont pay much more than you would for that Ebay one.

In addition you can find flaws in your tune. For instance if its a really hot day and you start to get a slight case of detonation, your knocklite would go off telling you that you need to either richen up the mix or retard the timing.

Also something to think about is what you your going to do with your car. I know some tuners that won't use a knock sensor at all on highly modified cars. The false positives happen too often in built motors and it will throw off your timing, not to mention AFRs and EGTs.
