aren't you just swapping out a 2.5 I4 with a 2.0 I4 with a turbo? Why not just wait for the turbo for your 2.5 I4?

It looks like the SR20DE engine puts out less ponies then the QR20DE, its when you put that turbo on.

IMO for your year alti, you're better off swapping to a VQ....

dude....you CANNOT put a SR20DET in your altima because that engine was developed for RWD.

The SR20DET is available in RWD AND FWD configured as AWD in the Bluebird and GTi-R (RWD and AWD *FWD* are not interchangable).

That engine is a very well built engine. Higher revving.. more potential for power and torque.. go for it if you have the money and time

but his current alti is soo much heavier then any of the other cars the sr20 is normally swapped out for... if it does work, would it be like taking 2 step back to go one step foreward... i mean there's a reason nissan went with bigger liter engines on the bigger alti's and even the bigger sentras, that used to house sr20 or ka24deT.... the QR and VQ are just the next step in the progression, don't you think?? if it's RWD that you really want, then that would be a different story... but you could probably (and this is just a crazy guesstimation) swap to the VQs from the Z or G (someone chime in if that's too outrageous, and not possible) same motor diff drive train and all but... I mean I know on the other forum there was a guy looking to swap his KA for a VQ from a max... I knw that on paper it should have all been possible, but his build got so elaborate I lost intrest... in the end, I still think that you should look into swapping up to the VQ.... dont' get me wrong the SR20 is a great, and yes even legendary, motor, but not in the newer/heavier altima... just my .02

Doing the swap is not gonna be easy my friend, it takes lots of $$$$, if I were you I'd just trade in your car for a 3.5SE

SR20DET - (with T28 - biggest factory turbo)(245 HP) @ 6400 rpm 202 ft·lbf @ 4800 rpm

Thats from the 99-02 200SX

VQ35DE- (250 HP) @ 6000 rpm 248 ft-lbs @ 4400 rpm

Thats from the 05-06 3.5SE

You can do some tuning on the SR20DET for more possible power but its much easier to crank the power out of the VQ.

Sorry,

But one question to my understanding our (3.5se owners) VQ's are the same from the early 350z, G35's but the engine is turned (oriented) differently for FWD. For example the if the engine in the 350 sits like this ^ then the engine sits > like that in our FWD Altimas. Am I mistaken here?
