What do you guy think of this LS1 KIt (Kamin/Joe)

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Kamin I know you had a couple replys to the guy who used his car for the prototype on ls1tech.com. What do you think of it now. I know your a diy self guy but what about use guys who don't have the resources. Would you say this is the best Ls1 kit on the market.

The only thing that concerns me is how low the oil pan is compared to the crossmember. You guys think it's to low for daily driving with a lowered car (atleast tucking tire). Look at the last pic on the right http://www.sikky.com/products/...l_pan

Looks decent to me, you're still SOL with headers though

Yeah I was thinking you could use the daft innovation headers but not sure if they would fit with a totally different kit (plus there $600 dollars). It's either this or a JZ swap I have 4 months to figure it out.

I have a 1jz swap in my car I'm almost done.. But if someone offers me the right price for my swap I would definitely go for a ls1. I just love the sound of v8.

Actually, on silviaV8forums Sikky posted some prototype headers for the S13/S14 LS1 swap.

I'm really hoping they go into production. They look like they will be nice.

And no powersteering lines, and they say no cutting, so I guess their oil pan clears the x member. And for 1750 seems a little high priced.

i am looking at this kit. it comes with a custom oil pan so no crossmember mods. it isnt a complete kit but it is a nice one. pxracing and hanson (have heard the quality of fit really sucks on hanson) have some kits also that are cheaper but you have to modifie the crossmember.

sorry i missed this!

and HOLY **** the pan sticks below the crossmember by INCHES! thats SCARY! my pan sticks about 1/4 an inch below the crossmember and thats enough to scare me. after years of track duty my crossmember has signs of actually making contact with things, so ive been mindful of that since the swap. my car isnt super low, but it does tuck tire depending on how low i have it set (i change my height a lot depending on what im doing with the car)

overall the kit looks good except for the pan, but god damn thats a lot of money. your still going to need another 1500-2000$ minimum, worth of miscellaneous garbage to just get the damn thing driving on a bare minimum level.

edit: my car is on the trailer right now so it was easy to snap a pic of the clearance. right now my car is HIGHER than normal because im battling some rub issues from a major camber change in the rear and new knuckles/LCA's up front.

and ignore all the dirt. weve been running at a kart road course here in town and the dust is like glue. it gets EVERYWHERE.
