What do you do when you break one of these??

Welding Aluminum parts require special tools and skills. So getting the bracket at the right position and last for a long time is questionable. Your best bet will be the junk yard or may a member who has a blown engine and willing to part with the cover.

If im not mistaken.... thats not the cover!!!

Well, you have a better view of the bracket - the picture only shows the front of the engine. If the bracket is on the engine body/frame, then it could be the reason the mechanic declined to repair it.
