Could you post what info you got. My car came from Florida where the previous owner drove it on the beach. There is sand everywhere!

well on mine i mostly wanted to get the valve cover clean and maybe a few other things, so i'm just gonna spray some engine de-greaser on it, let it set, get a brush and scrub the valve cover, then rinse w/ a hose. not sure about sand tho, that sux for you man.

my engine is spotless....here is the trick. Get a small plastic bag and cover your intake if you got an aftermarket one. then spray degreaser alllllll over that bad boy and wait 15 minutes. Then do it again wait 5 minutes then scrub the hell out of it with a brush. Then wash it all off with the hotest water you can stand. This should get all of the oil off. Then after all of that dry your motor off with a towel. BTW this towel is now only good for cleaning yoru engine. Apply armorall to all of the plastic and rubber lines in the bay. Take some mothers crome cleaner and do all the crome in there and that should be it. Also dont forget to do the underside of your hood first and let it dry then do the engine. That way it doesnt drip on your clean engine. I clean my engine bay about 1 time a week and only takes a couple minutes now because it is really clean to begine with. Just do it all the time and it is easy to clean. There is a picture of mine on the members pictures.

Is the engine degreaser stuff bad when it comes in contact with the spark plug wires?

In my experience Simple Green worked better than any degreaser I've found and it smells better. Be sure to cover up your distributor too, I've seen people kill one quick. Also, DO NOT PRESSURE WASH YOUR ENGINE!!!!!!!! A pressure washer can cut through YOU like a knife, what do you think it will do to any loose hoses or wires or anything? I had a fried wreak vacuum nightmares on his car beause he pressure washed his engine and knocked about 4 vacuum hoses out of whack. Simple Green, let sit for 15 minutes, hit it again, 5 minutes, wash clean with a garden hose. Scrub with a soft brush whatever you can get to without messing anything up. Cover your distributor and intake (if aftermarket).

yeah.. don't power wash your engine, a powerwasher is too strong, it might end up dameging small components within the engine.. using a degreaser and hot waters is good.. also they sell these nossels that you attach to a regular garden hose and a air compressor.. it works well.. not as strong as the powerwasher... as for the degreaser... try Castrol Super Clean.. comes in a purple bottle.. this **** is strong as hell and it won't discolor plastics or hoses... try them on your rims too.. it leaves them spotless with minimal effort...

When i first got my ride my buddy took me to the local - quarter - do it yourself - high pressure wash, and put a plastic bag over my distributer, and sprayed the wheel cleaner all over my engine and then pressure washed the hell out of it, worked really well! I bet Trpower7 is right though about the vaccuum hoses, though. But ive done it like 5 times since, like when the bay gets real dirty, and i am in turn real lazy. :bonghit My buddy does his stang all the time too

Thanks I think I will go with the baggy/simple green technique.

We have a cleaner called RIP TIDE at work. That stuff will cut thru any grease, oil by-product.

cover your battery, distributor, and ignition coil, also the intake if it is aftermarket with a cone filter. I would also recommend letting it dry VERY well before driving it so you do not damage any electrical components if water has gotten in by some chance. engine detailer works wonders on hoses and plastic once its all cleaned up too!!
