Now that im moving back to Charleston, im going to try buy a Mini. Ive been wanting and talking about buying one for years now so im finnaly going to try get one. So far ive found 3 from Turkys Towing that i like. I will have a little list and links to them at the end of this post.

Only thing about me buying a Mini is i would ahve to give up Ol Red. I hate to give up the 240SX (LOVE RWD). I love the classy look of the Minis and i want a RHD car. Front Wheel Drive is my biggest problem with a Mini. Well that and only haveing a 1000cc motor and 4sp gearbox. Ive heard good things and bad things about Minis. Ive heard they are great autox cars and with some mods can be quick.

Heres the cars im looking at so far......Quote »I can't resist a Red Mini. Look at the photos of this car in New Zealand (they are after the photos taken here). Look at that scenery in the background...WOW! I have 2 extremely nice red Minis for sale (see them below), but I could not resist buying this one. It is not quite as nice as my other 2, but it is a solid RHD Mini that will make someone very happy at a much lower price. This 1976 Morris Mini has a 1000 engine w/ 4 speed gearbox. Like most of the NZ Minis I have, it is rust-free. The interior is original and nice throughout. There are some small scratches and some dings on the car, but, like I said earlier...it is not as nice as my other 2 and the price is far less. If you are wanting a Mini that is mechanically good, has a straight body and could be driven everyday, then this is the Mini for you. Priced very reasonably. South Carolina title. For sale at $4750
http://www.turkys.com/RedNZRF.html

That is the frist one im looking at. My main choice.

My 2nd choiceQuote »Bold As Brass is the color of this NZ Mini. A great running & driving 1976 Morris Mini with a 1000 motor & 4 speed transmission. There is a tad of rust on the passenger's door at the bottom (see photo) and a dent on the passenger's side front fender (see photo). That's about all you'll find wrong with this RHD Mini. The interior is original and clean as a pin. I have Minis in better cosmetic condition, but none run & drive any better than this one. Excellent Mini for the person that wants a solid everyday driver. Don't let a couple boo-boos on this car stop you from buying it. I am sure much worse Minis have been sold on the internet for much more money. Runs & drives 100%. South Carolina title. For sale at $4950
http://www.turkys.com/BrassRF.html

And my 3rd choiceQuote »Very tidy New Zealand Mini. This white 1976 Austin Mini is a superb little RHD car. It has had a total repaint and shows no signs of previous or existing rust or damage. The original interior is deep dark blue vinyl and is perfect in every way. Matching carpets are in perfect condition as well. The 1000 engine & 4 speed run flawlessly at highway speed. Brakes and clutch are fine. This would be a great daily driver or a nice weekend Mini you would be proud to "show" at your local English Car Club's next event. Do not overlook this Mini. It is extremely clean and has been well taken care of by both previous NZ owners. You can't spend a penny on this one. It is 100% ready to enjoy now. South Carolina title. For sale at $5950
http://www.turkys.com/WhiteRF.JPG.html

The new Mini's are tearing up the Autox tracks here in town. The WRX guys are really impressed, since they are in the same class. What are the differences suspension wise between the old and new minis? I would think that the old ones have crap suspensions, but I could be wrong.

Maybe I'm a cynical bastard, but I'm really skeptical of all those claims of "rust free" and "perfect interior". If Minis are anything like 70's Z cars, often the only thing holding them together isrust.

Ah...one more thing...an old Jag joke.

Q: Why don't the British make computers?

A: They couldn't figure out a way to make them leak oil!

:D

I always wanted a mini. One idea I tossed around was a making a MR drive train out of an altima, as i have seen a couple with integra motors in that config before. KA-T MR mini would sure be fun :)

I dont think I would ever give my s14 up for one though...

The Minis Turkys has are rust free. They all come from New Zealand. I have seen them personaly and they are clean as hell and nice as hell. As for the suspension on the older Minis, it is hydrolastic. Little rubber cones on each wheel. No springs. And as for parts, there are alot of sites online you can order them from, ex. MiniMania.com As for starting on cold days there is a fix for that too. Bolt on block heater. Ive also heard they either freez you or cook you in the winter.

Old ones are very cool, but not comfortable, reliable or sporty. Base Mini's are downright anemic. If you think 240sx's are slow, an old base mini will make your 240sx seem like a Z06. The old Mini COOPER can be built up into nice autocross machines for not a lot of money. I wouldn't mind a old Mini-Cooper as a weekend fun car, but not as a daily driver. I have a neighbor who owned a nice one for several years. He was fixing it more than he drove it. He was happy to have owned it but was more happy to get rid of it.
