What do you all think of 1jz?

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

WHAT IS ALL NEEDED FOR A SWAP IN A ZENKI? Just motor mounts?

What do you want to do with the car? 1j and 2j both have different advantages, mainly dealing with the stroke.

I want a highway beast.

Not sure if I want to go with a 7mgte or 1jzgtte.

I'm just wondering if there are any aftermarket parts for the 1jz out there? I'm having trouble finding performance parts as well as 240sx 1jzgte and 7mgte swap information..

I would go with the 1JZ over the 7m anyday.

Not that it really matters for a street car, the 1j has a shorter stroke so it is better on a track.

Just go single turbo on a 1j and you will be more than happy and have plenty of reckless tickets.

But, If you plan on modding the 1j you will be seriously slinging out some dough. You might as well start with a 2j. That will be your best straight line motor.

2JZ Swaps has the complete kit to install the 1 or 2JZ in a 240sx. You still need to do wiring though. Their Yellow 240 was in Modified last month with a 2JZ. http://www.2jzswap.com/

I would go 1j. 2j imo are a better fit for heavier cars. The 2j has more torque, revs low, greater pontential in HP, but it will be wasted potential in a 240 (you will be all over the road, instead of enjoying the power). You are already going to have traction issues with a single turbo'ed 1j (which has less torque). Ask people who have done this swap or have driven either a 1j or 2j'ed 240. You can go as high as 500+, 600+ in the 1j, but 400-500 is more for a long lasting daily driver. More HP than that is just too much for a daily driven 240, unless you plan to make it just a drag car, then you can put slicks and have a 600+ 2j'ed 240 and be able to move effectively. Here are some links to help you in your decision:

In Modified Mag (June 2007 issue) There is coverage called "Tuner Shootout" The car than came in #6 was the Full-Race's '96 Nissan 320rwhp 240sx, with 275/40-17 Nitto NTO1. This is a clip from the mag:"...all the RWD machines seemed to really struggle for traction off the line, which in the case of this 240sx resulted in a 13.44 second run..."-and-The #5 car, M-Workz 2003 350z (heavier car) with around 500rwhp:"But unfortunately the Hoosier tires and immediacy of all that supercharged torque made for a very difficult machine to drive out of the hole. As a result, the best 1/4 mile time the M-Workz could muster was 12.934 @ 119.23mph".

Now, if you want a car that is really fast, but you have to be going 40+mph in order to have a decent launch, go for the 2j; just don't pull up to me at a stop light, you'll be spinning while I take a 3+ car lead. Hopes this helps.

Seriously though, as mentioned, great motor. For the effort and cost into a S-chassis, there are better options (in my opinion). I actually went on a 5 hour car trip to NY to test drive a toyota cressida so I could do this swap 3 years ago. My wallet has been thanking me ever since for lowballing on the price and never hearing back from the guy

So the USDM MKIII and the SC300 had the 2JZ, right?

I too am doing a 1jz here in the next month or 2. I just have to sell my turbocharged 91 integra to help start the funds.

The company 2jzswap will do the wiring for 450 bucks. Its a lil steep but from my research the 1Jz can make a bunch of power with little mods. Ive seen several MKIII's making 500+ whp just using the Apexi AFC....what?? The mods on one of the supra's was:-AFC-550cc-walbro of coarse-manifold and turbo-DP and exhaust of coarseThese guys are using stock cams, stock TB and stock intake manifold. I couldnt believe it! Parts are not that hard to find. From looking around it seems that the Clutch kits are the most expensive and the flywheel for the 1JZ is pretty rare but they run about 350. And there are alot more turbo manifolds out there. More than the RB's
