I love my Z and I love my 240sx but the Z is alot more expensive to maintain. Especially if you do not have any mechanical skills. Z is a much better car tho.

I've never owned either, but I'll contest that they're two different ball parks. Z being more expensive to maintain, as bj stated, and more difficult to work on. The pay off is a much better sports vehicle. And if you live in the states a swap will not be needed (assuming you get the TT). For the money you would put into the 240 for an SR swap you could have one fast arse Z.

VG30DETT=the hardest engine to work on I've seen....not somthing I recommend to anyone loking to modify it. The first step in just about every is to pull the damn engine.

Why swap in a SR, just drop in a turbine and you'll be happy with the KA....But I'm biased.

I THINK you should get/keep whichever you think you'll like more and whichever you can afford. The 300zx is a more costly car to maintain but if you want it, get it. If you can't decide go test drive a Z and see if ya like it.... don't get what other people want, get what you want. Your money. El Fin.

If by "every modification" you mean replacing turbos, then yes. That is the only common mod that requires pulling the motor. Need an example?

Stage 1: Intake/Pop Charger & Underdrive PulleyStage 2: Cat Back ExhaustStage 3: ECU Upgrade(most common above, then move onto next likely mods)Test PipesDownpipes/Clutch/Flywheel (yes you do have to drop the transmission)Intercoolers

Anyway, I'll leave it at that. I'm not going to argue, my Z is a pain to work on but its worth it. The car is the definition of a sports car. Its not even fair to the 240sx to compare it to its bigger brother.

they are both about as reliable but as stated, the z is FAR more expenisve when something does break, and finding someone that will even look at the car is getting harder and harder, on a plus side things almost never go wrong...also keep in mind that if there is any chance of snow in your area this car is sucicide

That is the stupidest arguement. It is a harder engine to work on but this bs about having to pull the motor every time you upgrade is obviously wrong. Pop Charger, Pulley, Down Pipe, Test Pipe, Catback exhaust and ECU puts you about 430-450 horsepower with all simple jobs (no motor pulling). The only thing that would require an engine pull would be oil pan, turbos and manifolds but technically the turbos are do-able with the motor in. And at this point you'd have at least 600 crank hp .. see why your argument isn't founded?

I have an 240sx and a 1990 300zx. When I drive my 240 after my Z its like the 240 has no power... when the Z shifts gears that thing knocks you back into your seat. I love my Z and i'd take one over a 240 any day. Im not saying that the 240's aren't nice cars, but every time i look at the Z i think damn thats a sweet car.

The Z will be about the same to maintain as a SR20DET swaped in the 240.Yeah the motor is hard to get to but at least you can get the parts and fabrication is less needed. Both cars are awesome and expensive to maintain.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Just go with your heart. My heart will always beat for the Z.....
