Interesting article talks about car ownership in the ten wealthiest zip codes in the country. Granted, this is talking about location, not bank accounts. You could have a broke a** baby mama living in there somewhere. Doubtful, but possible. I'd love to see them poll the people whose net worth is over $100 million and see how much the answers differ.

Anyway, here are the top ten cars in the top ten wealthiest zip codes. it might surprise you than 8 of the 10 sell for under $40,000.

10. BMW X5
9. Toyota Camry
8. Honda Accord
7. Honda CR-V
6. Volkswagen Jetta
5. Toyota Prius
4. Lexus RX
3. Mercedes-Benz C-Class
2. BMW 328

And the most popular car in America's wealthiest ZIP codes is the...

1. Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Does the list surprise you? Why / why not?

I'd like to have more details about this poll, such as: did you ask them what their DD was? Some of these people might have a Prius for their commute but a Maserati to take out for ice cream on the weekends. :gotme

Here's the link to the full article.

Doesnt really surprise me given the wealthier folks I know. But I think you're right that most of these people own more than one vehicle and their DD's are more modest than the ones in their garages.

I agree with Joel, these might be the daily drivers, but they aren't the garage queens. Either way, the list doesn't really surprise me, especially the E class. The town I live in has some major money in it along with plenty of other in-the-middle folks. Anyway, when you take a drive on a nice Saturday or Sunday the same people who probably own one of the top 10 cars mentioned aren't driving them- our rural roads, beaches, and local markets are all gold mines of classics of all types from a pair of Porsche 356's, a couple 912's, a slew of 60's Mustangs and Camaros, and british convertibles.

The better question might be "whats in the wealthy persons garage that they don't drive?"

Most rich folks arent into cars. Theyre into whatever it was that made them rich. I'm surprised the Dodge Caravan isn't on the list. I see lots of those parked outside multimillion dollar homes along with Suburbans and Explorers.

Thank goodness for Jay Leno.

Depends on what you consider rich and more importantly, where you live.

The CEO of the company I work for has a '98 Accord for his daily driver. It's mint.

I still can't figure out why ANYONE would buy a Lexus RX in this day of multitudinous crossover choices.

Because you're an idiot with more money than sense.

That should be the Lexus slogan...

Its all spent in homes and businesses. If I were a milti million dollar football player or something, I would have a line of Nissans. No 26's y0, I would have less than 1 in dash dvd player with no TVs facing you from 5 diferent directions, no gucci or wasted money on golden Lambo's, no Veyrons to buy just because, etc. One prized possession Skyline/GTR with a few Nissans and a Supra or 2 with other misc toys like a T-Rex and jet skis. 10 cars can be less than 1 supercar. No sports players are really in to cars like that which is sad.

Im actually surprised Volvo isnt up there and I expected MB to be higher.

You know why I wouldn't have a line of Nissans?

Because there's not enough good ones.

Now Datsuns....yes. A few dimes, some Z's. A 620 King Cab (really about it on the Datsun pickups, they're too damn small for me :()

Ohhhh the Fords I would have though....
