Hey what's up family!

Can anyone tell me what these two connectors under the steering column go to?

I got this chassis in this condition. Trying to figure some of the last wiring issues out.

Thanks!

Pretty sure the first one is is the OBD1 data link connector. Looks like what I use to connect to my NISTUNE cable. Not sure what the 2nd one is.

Thanks! I got a shell with half a body harness, no engine harness, and working thru my first custom wiring job with a USDM 2JZ-GE.

It's been kicking my butt. LOL

This should go a long way toward helping your project in the future;

I'm guessing this is an S13? Knowing the year of the car would help a lot.

From the FSM link above, I referenced a 1993 240sx. EL section, there is a body wiring harness that shows the location and purpose of every connector on the car (this is true for all of the FSMs.)

I don't think the top pic is the consult connector. That's listed as M3 on the drawing and looks like this:

To me it looks like the shift lock control unit, M28. The connector on that part looks like this and is only used for auto transmission cars;

The bottom pic looks a lot like the headlamp retractor switch connector. M25. The backside of that switch looks like this:

Now you know how to look that stuff up and have an AMAZING (FREE!!!) resource for all of the wiring, exploded views of components, etc... I can't overstate how grateful I am to Greg and the community for hosting that and fighting (literally!!!) to keep that free and available to the community. You can seriously find everything and anything you ever wanted to know about how these cars were configured from the factory from there.

(edit, i linked your original pics side by side to make comparison a little easier)

You're correct, looking at the consult pic you posted, that's what I was thinking about in my head. I haven't looked at it in a while though.
Somehow I forgot the FSM has all those connectors displayed and labeled. Thanks for reminding me!

No prob! Those things have been my Bible for my 240s throughout the years. I think I reference the main site-link on about 2/3 of the troubleshooting posts I reply to in Facebook. I try to go further than the typical 'RTFM' reply though. The level of detail in the FSM is wild!

Thanks to everyone for the information!!!

I have been looking at those FSMs for the 1990. But, I'll be totally honest, I'm spoiled by the depth and detail of the 2004 Infiniti/Nissan manuals. The newer manuals have way more detail and much easier to use than the 1990 FSM. All of your answers have helped. Its looking like I can totally ignore these two plugs.

Very welcome, and, sort of. If you don't have a headlamp retractor switch, it'd be nice to be able to raise and lower your headlamps. I'd look into one of those.

Interesting. The headlamp up/down switch is working with neither of these two plugs in question connected. There may have been some type of weird operation/response from the switch in the dash. I will check again.

Ah! then that 6-connector one is something else, i must've incorrectly identified it.

What are the wire colors on the 6-pin? In the older FSM's the easiest way to identify mystery connectors is with the big foldout WD. Find all the ones with a matching number of pins, then find the one that matches the colors. Since the new FSM's mostly don't have a comprehensive "whole car" WD, that's actually easier to do on older stuff than newer.
