What do I need to start tracking.

All over the world, Nissan products are involved in road racing, track days, time attack and autocross.

I went to buttonwillow and my rear axle fell out as the clip broke because I turned hard.

My car was bone stock. Maybe worse than stock because all the parts are pretty old.

What parts must I get new to start tracking because I don't want anything falling out of my car while I'm tracking. I know all road racers must have another car to lean on just incase the track car goes wrong but I just want to know what parts need to be replaced so I can drive real hard without things falling out by itself.

I understand when I hit something that stuff can fall out but when Im not hitting anything but just plain old turning I dont want things to go wrong as it shouldnt be.

Any recommendations on things I need to get to be track ready. This is my daily driver I'm keeping the engine stock. I bought kts coilovers (didnt arrive yet) but thats about it.

just check everythign befor eyou go to the track, i know plenty of peopel who drive bone stock cxars at teh tracka nd are in advanced groups, take care of the car and be sure everythign is put togeather good before you go. no NEED for anythign special for the track besides safety equipment if anything, performance parts are not a MUST, just regular maintenance.

it shoudl last just fine, maybe think about better brake fluid and changing your oil before or after the event. Other than that the other modifications will just allow you to corner faster or go faster, but not necessarily last longer, having your car last several events without constant maintenance takes time spent on maintenance, check all the bolts that could come loose, listen for weird suspension noises from bushings and such. No matter what the part everything goes bad eventually, just your stock old parts are ahead of the game, so even upgrading will yeild you trouble sometimes if not all the time if you buy problematic and cheap parts. I have known people with full race races to have issues at every single event just because they used a few cheap parts that were key in the cars operation and it hurt them big time for a full season.

so just think maintenance, use quality parts and constently check fluids and disposable parts (brakes tires)

I agree with you. Some organizations have a checklist that you can look over that will help you know what to look at... such as check the hubs for excessive wear, fairly new brake components, suggested tread depth etc.

This checklist is important to follow. If the club you are running with does not require a pre inspection --Get one done anyway. If you do not know what you are looking for ---Find a shop that knows what to check for a track day. Fresh brake fluid, good pads and tread on the tires ( but not new tires) are basic needs.

You will have things fail the first few times out if the car has not had a lot of preventative maintennce. -SR20goofus had it right--Check all the bolts you can and make sure they are torqued down. Lots of things loosen up at the track ( at least on the bumpy tracks in the NE they do)

O I see. I'm probably going to get a bushing kit from PDM. Cause the three laps I ran The car didn't feel smooth.

Its going to be a while till my next track day but good to know.

Ill be at the speed ventures event at buttonwillow 5/31
