Okay, so i have a 91 240sx and the motor knocks on it i think i need new bearings. I have to rebuild the motor anyway and have about 2 g's to play with but the turbo right now isnt my concern. I just want to make my motor strong enough to handle 350+ hp dont know if i can but thats my goal. Can anyone tell me what i should buy parts wise? and what i need to do to the motor? And if i cant make it strong enough with 2 g's can you tell me how much hp i can make it stand. and how much more i would need to make it stand that much

Also, I dont really know what the t25 or t3/t4 stuff means. And when you look at turbo kit ads and it says for 300-400 hp motors. does that mean that it would give your car around that much if it can handle it for it runs best with motors that already have 300-400 HP?

can someone please explain this stuff to me it would help me out alot!!!

well ive got a 91 also, and its engine knocks too. its a small world. well i guess one of the first things u could do would be getting the intake and exhaust set. if u have alot of hp you have to get air in there. i think that a stock ka would be able to handle a turbo with some good intake and exhaust. It just depends on what u want to do with the car. im sure u could talk to any import mechanic and he could give u a list of things u could use. im no mechanic but when i graduate high school im planning on getting a major in auto tech, then ill be an import mechanic. oh ya and get a book for the thing if u dont have one, no doubt in my mind ull need it.

For the amount you have and the power you want you could buy another ka in good shape and boost it. Alot of people make the power you want with a stock block and a good tune. But if you insist on rebuilding, a forged piston and rod combo can be cheap if you search the forums here. As far as deciding on a turbo, you could check out other setups around the forum or go to turbo by garrett and read up.

I would just go ahead and rebuild it, I'm sure others would agree. Make sure whoever you let rebuild it stand behind their work and that you break it in correctly. If you don't mind me asking, what will this car be used for?

This is my first post, and I hve a very similar question... everyone seems to be missing the idea here. I beleive he asked what to buy and how much it'll cost to make the engine HANDLE that much power LATER. I too need to build an engine, and would like to know where the money would be best spent to build a 'bulletproof' BASE ENGINE. I am going to boost, possibly NOS, but all later and I don't want to have to go back through an engine I could have built right to begin with....

I am also looking to have 300-350hp + NOS. I have a KA24E(96 Hardbody), but am planning to buy another engine to stand-build. Would it serve me better to buy a KA24DE?What compression rate should we be aiming for at a boosted 300+hp?If DOHC, what cams should be puchased? How much boost will be required to achieve 300hp? 350hp?At say, 325hp, what cc injectors will I need to run?At what point will I need to intercool?TC or SC? (I have plenty of room, can I do both?)Anything special for crank, rods, or pistons at this HP range? With spray? What computer will we need to do this?
