Ok, I just bought a 91 240sx with the SR swap already done buy a company here in Florida called XaT they did my brother in laws and my buddys. I bought this car for only a grand from a co worker of my wifes because he needs money for some stuff he is going through. Now the bad, it over heats but i believe it is due to a stat or water pump which is a easy fix. he drove the car daily until this started happening. It has been sitting for a good 6 months now and because of that i am gonna trailer it to my house. What i need some help with is What do i need to do before trying to turn the motor over. I.E oil change siphon gas out..... Can i just do a oil change and add new gas with octane boost to the tank or what should i do. Any help would be much appreciated thanks alot!

What I would do is:Change the Oil and FilterChange Air FilterClean and re-gap or Change PlugsIf fuel tank is 1/4 or less then fill it with good quality 91 (or higher) octane If about 1/2 tank fill with good gas and add octane bostIf over 1/2 full I would drain it until it is at either 1/2 or 1/4 and follow above (you can probably slowly mix the old fuel into another car alittle at a time and it will burn poorly but cheaper than throwing it away)Test or replace plug wiresCharge or replace the batteryCheck water levelOnce running ok add fuel injector cleaner to the tank

All of the above will get you on track with regular maintance and also cover some of the more common starting / diveability problems people come accross. Don't expect a lot until you burn out all the old gas. Might want to consider changeing fuel filter again once the tank is clear of the old stuff.

Good Luck and let us know how things work out.

change the fuel filter, it will probably be starting to get some varnish in it. for the injactor cleaner get a can of seafoam, most parts stores sell it I know for a fact Advance sells it I work there, its the best stuff out there hands down.
