i am kinda at a standstill with my project ideas. right now i am looking at buying a 95 240 but i want to swap out the ka and do something else. its just i live in California and the smog and emissions bs is ridiculous. i heard that the sr isnt legal for some reason that i dont know about. and anything jdm would be a pain to get its smogged. keep in mind i want things to be legit not some guy looking the other way. i was considering a ls1 swap because thats usdm but now i heard that it has to be like 4bang to 4banger swap cant be like 4banger to v8 swap im not sure just some guidance would be appreciated

Why don't you just stick with the KA? Try to look for a low mileage one.

id stay with the KA i dont like the dualcams but when boosted they can really haul but your in cali so your screwed with smog stuff regardless what direction you take. Goodluck

yea in ca that smog shi% is crazy, id stick with a ka, buy a complete sr turbo set up, stock turbo, manifold, all smic i/c piping, smic, install all of it to look oem, no chrome, no shinyness, if it looks oem, ie the heatshield still on the t manifold ect ect...... but the chp r d!ck

No I am highly against it and do not participate by racing. I am a member of a local group that is against sideshow's and street racing that gives everyone else that modifies their car a bad name.

Welcome to the 240 world op. There have been too many of us that have dealt for years with the same issues your just thinking about now. Make it look close to stock and just try not to bring attention to yourself too much, ie flashy bodykits and driving crazy around town. It'll lower your chances of getting pulled over and getting your hood popped.

no i done that already with my previous car im looking for a car that i can modify and still have some fun with. i recently talked to this guy and said that his friends 240sx ls1 swap is bar'd and smogged thats all i need to know. i will probably move ahead with a 240sx ls1swap

just so you know swapping engines with anything other then what came in the car is not allowed, it also must be the same year or newer by DOT, but as long as its the same no biggie. A LS1 or V8 of any type is not legal for the streets, but where there is a will there is a way.
