What did you plug vacuum lines with?

Just wondering what everyone else used to plug up their vacuum lines after removing their aiv? I searching around and read that some people used vacuum plugs, but i am unsure what these are. Is there anything better to use than screws or bolts? I had a hard time finding any that fit well, and am afraid it might leak. Last night the car was really bogging, and started making loud screeching noises up till like 30mph, so i parked it. When i tried to start it back up, it kept dieing out and wouldnt run. Today i replugged the hoses better and it started right back up. I assume thats what happens when vacuum lines leak?

I happened to find a couple screws that fit just fine. They slid in there prety well, but with just a little force. I also coated them in a layer of epoxy to help seal, with a gob at the tip of the screw and around the bottom of the head. Here are a couple pics:

Those pics are magnified so it looks a little bad, but from just looking in the engine bay, they look like a couple of silver caps on the end of the vacuum tube, it looks pretty clean when not magnified.

you can buy a wooden dowel at any hardware store for a few cents (.30-1.00) and they'll snug right in and then i just clamp right over them..looks good and clean.

screws, bolts, whatever i have in my toolbox of 3 car's nuts and bolts from parting things out. Somethign that threads in so that it doesnt leak normally.
