in my 98 240, i was going to use my old ka24de throttle body and get cruise control working on my sr20, but i decided i don't really care because i never used it before anyway. but having buttons that do not do anything bothers the crap out of me. (i don't know why, i just can't handle it) so i was trying to come up with something interesting to do with it. so now i am in the process of wiring it up to be my scamble boost button for my HKS EVCIV boost controller. (press the cruise button with the light and it will count how long to be in scamble mode, and hit the off button to initiate scamble mode)

so i was wondering what others have done with the 2 buttons, if anything?

*note* that i am not talking about the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel but on the right under the cluster. i got a steering wheel from a jdm s14 (the 4 spoke) so those cruise control buttons are gone.

(on a side note.. i am also replacing my cigarette lighter with the start button from an s2000)

We discussed this yesterday actually. We though about using the buttons on the steering wheel itself as volume control buttons but it would require us pulling the CD player apart and soidering in leads to control the unit.

actually it wouldn't. since a lot of new cars (s2000 for example) come from the factory with audio controls seperate from the head unit, and many people want to upgrade their stereo and like i, get frustraited by buttons not doing anything, there is this little device you can wire to the switches and set up to act like a remote for your head unit. anything a remote can do to the head unit you can set up any switch to do. i don't remember its name, but i will find a link to it and post it later.

^ had to wire one of those up one time when i worked at an audio shop. the biggest pain is getting the little IR eye to point right at the head unit. yeah i have cruise control, rear windshield wiper controls and O/D button all unused. i have a base model car but the stuff came out of another car from the junkyard. i might go back and just get the correct buttons for the hell of it. maybe even get that change holder thingy haha.

youve already done the starter. Maybe a safety cutout switch. It could be used to pull the groung off on your starter. It would make it tricky for anybody to steal...or wire it to make some really loud obscene noise, so if you ever get pulled over for speeding you can tell the officer you were trying to get somewhere safe to check out the car?
